Problem attaching files in Gmail Solved

Question

Hello Forum,

I often have issues attaching files to my Gmail messages when I'm using Firefox 23.0.1 (regardless of the size): Failed to attach the file ... sometimes if I keep hitting Retry, it eventually uploads but not always.

When I use Chrome, this problem **never** occurs!!!

It’s probably a misconfiguration of Firefox.

Does anyone have a solution?

PS: This message pertains to both items, I posted it twice in Messaging / Gmail

Configuration: Windows 7 / Mozilla / Office 2007 & Excel 2003 / OOo 3
XP / Mozilla & Chrome / Office 2003

Hello Goupilofox  Excellent!!! Thank you very much.  In the end, I tried multiple attempts (adjusting timeouts, thresholds, etc.) and ended up disabling one of the functions:  After typing about:config in the address bar, I found 3 enabled options: network.http.spdy.enabled Truenetwork.http.spdy.enabled.v2 Truenetwork.http.spdy.enabled.v3 True By disabling the first one, you completely disable spdy (so the next two have no effect) and it works!  After trying all combinations, I found that it’s enough to disable only the last one for it to work: network.http.spdy.enabled.v3 False  Thanks again I will mark it as resolved -- Best regards Patrice

Thank you for this response. I regularly clear the cache and also delete cookies (with CCleaner), but it has no effect.
I tried resetting Firefox with no better results.

Your link to Google/Groups/Gmail doesn't work, but I have already consulted this forum (not very user-friendly!) without finding a solution.

The operation is relatively strange: the attachment download starts, then the message appears: Failed to add the attachment ..., After clicking on Retry several times, sometimes the download restarts, and sometimes it completes successfully. It is not related to the file size to be attached (the problem occurs whether it's a few KB or several MB)

When it gets too frustrating, I end up downloading the attachment with Chrome (strangely, there is never a failure!)

Re,  Is Firefox up to date? Current version 24.0 If you have a proxy enabled, you can try disabling it the "Firefox", at the top -> options -> options -> advanced -> network -> connection -> settings

Choice no proxy or use system proxy settings = same fight!

I've consulted quite a few answers in different forums, it seems that I'm not the only one having this issue with Firefox but for now I haven't found a solution.

Another option, update Flash
Download it here (uncheck the McAfee box) https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?loc=fr and install it like software.

Many topics mention an option "Advanced features of attachments" but I can't find it either in Firefox or on Gmail.

All my software is up to date (Flash: 11.9.900.117).

For the "Advanced attachment features" option, I can't find it, neither in Firefox, nor in Gmail, nor in Chrome, nor in IE. Maybe it's a Safari option??

right-click on the line network.http.spdy.enabled, then toggle it.
and restart Firefox
