Print a page in the right orientation under Windows 11

hello,

since I’m on Windows 11, when I print a page, for example in Word, it prints the bottom first.

thus if I have a page start written at the top, and I want to print on a piece of paper (like half an A4 sheet), it prints into the void because the bottom first....

how can I change the printing direction?

I didn’t have this problem on Windows 10

does anyone have an idea?

      If the printer settings do not allow it (I haven't had a printer with that option), it is possible to create a PDF file that some PDF readers (such as PDF-XChange Viewer) have the function to rotate by 360° in quarters).

      Otherwise, you can use an A4 sheet for which you will lose half to cutting or reuse it in the other orientation in the printer.

        Indeed, the question escapes me.

        Whether the print starts from the top or the bottom, we will cut an A4 sheet in the same way.

        If we want trouble because we want to print a half-page right away (or if we have no choice because it’s a special format like Bristol board), normally in Word and if the printer has the capacity, one chooses A5.

        Mine offers lots of other formats that Word does not want to hear about (unless I suppose by tinkering with the margins and wasting the remaining paper) but A5 is still quite common.

        What I understand is that benshi.33 was using A5 sheets and that as a result the printing was done on the roll, but I may be wrong.

        The role of choice A5 is precisely to print only on the relevant surface, provided that the half sheet is correctly placed in the printer for that purpose.

        Here, apart from the fact that for some obscure reason the print would start from the bottom, everything happens as if the print were on A4, or as if there were a two-page A5 layout in the text, the second page being blank because a non-printable character like a paragraph mark sticks out or the text is pushed by margins or the footer or its reserved space: in this scenario, if the printer is only set to print the first page, that is what will be observed, and of course you can print two pages only if the printer accepts this sheet in manual feed or if the tray can hold multiple A5 sheets.

        But I don’t see why a printer would print a page from bottom to top; it is more likely that it is configured to print in reverse order, starting with the last page.

        Indeed, choosing the A5 option executes the print in the top position. benshi.33 having indicated that this was the case under W10, one does not see why, except for a minor driver incompatibility under W11, it would have changed.

        Perhaps he will provide us with the results of his adjustments.

    one clarification perhaps, for example during a landscape layout, where I create 2 columns to fill only one, namely the left.

    and I end up with a half A4 sheet filled only on the left.

    when I put the A4 sheet in the tray and print, the paper will come out printed on the back and not at the start. so I put a half sheet (to avoid waste), it comes out and the printing is done in the void.... :(

    but I will try the reverse order, that might perhaps fix my problem.

      At the unit price of a sheet of paper, say €5 for 500 sheets, i.e. €0.01, isn't time money?

      Printing in 2 columns does not mean 2 pages, I don't know in what order Word decides or how to print only one column except by selecting the print area with more or less ease.

      Perhaps we would have more success, instead of columns, by creating a table that entirely splits the page in two and writing only in the left cell of the table, but for the layout of the text that wouldn't be great.

      But why if you want to print on half sheets don't you write your text in A5 format which does not need to be landscape on A4 sheets that you will cut in half?

    Maybe it's the printer driver that handles that..? and it wouldn't be the correct one that's in place.. What printer is it..? Brand and model...

    For example, printing a postal envelope... It is inserted "Vertical" into the machine, and yet the address is printed horizontally on the envelope, as soon as it comes out of the printer and you rotate it a quarter turn to read it.

    The Bit-Image was created with 90° rotation, it's the driver that does that.

    Maybe you need a "printing software"...?

    So by changing the page order during printing, Celka prints the top first as I wanted.
