Hello,

On Firefox, I installed Lilo as my search engine and I want to always open new tabs with the Lilo search engine, but that's impossible. I'm looking for a solution.

In detail: When I click on Firefox, I directly land on the Lilo search engine (https://search.lilo.org/?plugin=lilose) that's how I configured it. But when I click on the plus sign to open a new tab, I end up on the Firefox homepage and not on the Lilo search engine, I then have to click on the little house for Lilo to display.

I checked the settings to change the new tab but here, two options are available to me:

Firefox homepage (default)

or

Blank page

It's impossible to enter https://search.lilo.org/?plugin=lilose

Thank you for indicating the procedure, I've been searching in vain for over an hour!

Ceciel

Hello,

Firefox does not offer the option to open the page of your choice in a new tab.

This operation is possible via a Firefox add-on.

Extension named ==► New Tab Override

Once the add-on (extension) is installed, click on the icon next to the address bar.

Or from Firefox Settings --►Extensions --►New Tab OverrideOptions

Configure the New Tab Override extension:

So that Lilo opens when a new tab is opened.

Option --► Custom URL

URL --► https://search.lilo.org/

(Check the box) Select --► At the opening of a new tab, select the web page instead of the address bar.

The effect is immediate; no need to restart Firefox.

Note:

It is also possible with this URL --► https://search.lilo.org/?plugin=lilose

Open a new Firefox tab to check the result.

Good evening

My default search engine is indeed Lilo and I want to keep it that way. What I want is for when I open a new tab, it opens on the Lilo search engine. And that is not what happens. (it opens on Firefox and I have to click again on the home button to get Lilo.

Is there not a way to click on the new tab (+) and go directly to the Lilo search engine?

I have searched a lot but still haven't found a solution

Thank you for your help

Hello,

I am not exposed to this situation because I bookmark my different search engines, but of course, this doesn't automatically open a new tab for them.

The procedure described by bazfile does change the homepage (for all windows, not just new tabs), and nothing requires doing anything other than connecting to this address (you can also simply disable the content of the homepage).

Searching in the address bar with the default search engine is another question that is not related to whether a tab is new or not; the goal is not an automatic connection but only when a search is done.

If it is this last question, it seems that this has been an old bug for which the developer offers no other solution than reverting to an older version.
