Texture issues in Enshrouded

Hello,
I own a megaport pc purchased in 2022 with the following configuration:
- amd ryzen 5 3600
- gigabyte rtx 3060 vision oc 12gb (I installed it this morning, the previous one was a gtx 1660 super)
- 32 gb ddr4
- 1 tb SSD
- msi a520m pro motherboard
- 600 watt power supply
I replaced the gtx 1660 super with an rtx 3060 this morning.
In the game Enshrouded that I am currently playing, the texture detail was set to quality and with the rtx 3060, it is set to maximum quality.
Despite this, the textures are still a bit muddy, and some elements in the scenery are missing on the ground, like the large-leafed succulents for which here is a screenshot taken somewhere:

Hello
The "lack" of textures does not come from the card; at least, you can quickly see this in the task manager under the "GPU" tab if the embedded memory is saturated, with the "memory usage" graph at the bottom.
The power of the GPU will have an impact on the number of frames per second generated depending on the level of detail requested based on the game's resource demands.
The question is more about the "capture somewhere". First, make sure you are at exactly the same spot on the map; textures vary.
If that is indeed the case, contact the video's publisher directly via comment or email; if it's an individual on YT with not many views, it will often be quick. Already done ;-) They can then provide all the graphical settings used so you can replicate everything on your side. Also, ask if any graphical mods have been added.
If it's the publisher themselves, make sure it isn't a preview version, as we were disappointed by Ubisoft during the sadly legendary presentation of Watch Dogs at E3 2012 (link to the recap).

Good evening Luckydu43,
Thank you for your response and for your help.
In fact, the game is not finalized yet; it is an early version.
But I saw on YouTube that some people, right from the start of the game, had varied textures for the vegetation on the ground, unlike mine.
I will check as you advised and keep you informed.
Sincerely.
Hello Luckydu43,
I applied the graphic settings as indicated in a video on Youtube, and I'm getting textures that are not ugly but not great either, which is surprising for a RTX 3060 even though it's an older model.
I also heard that DLSS could reduce texture quality, is that true? It is enabled in my game.
Here are the screenshots:

There are of course missing elements in the vegetation on the ground while other players on Youtube have much nicer textures, even with an RTX 3060 (I saw a video about that on Youtube).
More screenshots:
At the risk of repeating myself, we need to compare to the exact spot.
Also, what about the applied nVidia filters? The last screenshot presents a brighter scene, which is certainly nicer, but aside from that, I don't notice any difference in quality compared to the first one, even in depth of field.
Hello
I would like to add that you should be wary of videos on YouTube or elsewhere because they are often rigged by clever guys, like the dude showing that he's getting 200fps in Star Wars Battlefront II with a GTX 560... and a Celeron CPU.
Hello Luckydu43,
Thank you for your response. I have made good progress in the game, but for now, I don't see any area with different vegetation, maybe further on.
Hello Flo88,
Thank you for this information. However, I have a question: I activated anisotropic filtering at 16x in the Nvidia application settings, what does that change concretely? I don't know much about graphics cards.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
Hello,
If you don't know anything about graphic settings, with the NVIDIA panel, let the applications decide, just enable G-Sync if your monitor is compatible.
Once in the game, enable DLSS and disable ray tracing when your performance is low.
Hello Winux,
Thank you for your response and for your wise advice.
What is G-Sync? (It's activated in my game).
However, I looked into it and I'm a bit disappointed because my RTX 3060 is not DLSS compatible; I should have bought an RTX 4060 instead, especially since I just saw that it consumes 55 watts less than the RTX 3060. If I'd known, I would be so upset...
Besides that, having set many of the graphic details to maximum (including textures) and playing at 1080p, I cap around 60 fps.
However, I noticed that some texture options are only available depending on the graphics card. When I had my old GTX 1660 Super, the max quality option for textures wasn't available, but with the RTX 3060, it appeared and I was able to activate it. It seems there is an ultra quality option for textures, but only with higher-end graphics cards; I saw it somewhere.
Best regards.
G-Sync or FreeSync is the adaptive refresh rate of the screen that synchronizes with the number of FPS of the game.
This is activated outside of the game, and should not be confused with V-Sync.
DLSS is available from the RTX 2xxx series, it's DLSS 4 with Frame Generation that you don't have.
Textures depend on the amount of video memory, which is particularly useful for very high resolutions to avoid losing detail, but unnecessary sometimes at Full HD.
Thank you for your response, Winux.
On my RTX 3060, I have 12 gigabytes of VRAM.
I had a bit of trouble installing it due to its size, especially since it's a bit heavy and I already have a big Noctua heatsink installed on my small MSI A520M Pro motherboard, so I placed a vertical support under the graphics card.
I also just saw somewhere that many players report sometimes significant FPS drops in the game Enshrouded due to the fact that it's not yet well optimized and still in early access; I've noticed that too on my end.
Best regards.
I don't know, but I have heard many good things about No Man's Sky; however, I prefer medieval-type games like Enshrouded or Skyrim.
I saw the trailer for a game that the creators of No Man's Sky are refining, where they have created an open world on a planet the size of Earth. It will be immense, and it's called "Light No Fire."
Speaking of Skyrim, a certain Thana Kan has created an easy-to-install graphics mod pack that includes 1500 or 1600 mods; it's very visually appealing.
I downloaded it, but it's still nearly 200 gigabytes, so you need to account for 400 gigabytes of disk space for the manipulations.
But I'm going to wait until I have an RTX 4060 Ti, compatible with my PC; I somewhat regret rushing into getting an RTX 3060...
Compared to Oblivion, it is indeed visually stunning, but is it true that there are still a lot of bugs and that the voices are in English? That would be a shame...
To respond to your comment about DLSS, Winux, I tried to enable DLSS in the settings, but when I launched the game, I encountered a black screen with some visual effects here and there...
In fact, I was mistaken, Winux: DLSS is enabled in the game, but I tried to enable additional DLSS settings in the Nvidia application, I may have tried to set it to version 4...
Yes, I first uninstalled the graphics driver before installing the card, then reinstalled the graphics driver after installing the card, and there was also a new version of the Nvidia application.
I agree with you, Flo88, Enshrouded is not comparable to Starfield, which I played for a few dozen hours.
But I lost interest because I found there was some redundancy here and there, the city of Neon is beautiful but didn’t grab me that much, and most of the planets feel a bit empty in my personal opinion, I think there isn't much life...
On the other hand, I really liked the Scarlet Fleet and its different quests, and at the end, having the choice to be part of the Fleet or not and its consequences.
I also really liked the different spaceships and the possibility of building them.
Hello
For me, the most extensive open-world game is Starfield.
Worlds that are infinite, all planets in full open mode... nothing rivals it to my knowledge as of today.
However, you need a very powerful PC for it to be playable, the game is a true benchmark in itself.
Personally, I didn't like it too much; it's too directed from the beginning, while the quests in No Man's Sky are tutorials designed to progressively unlock everything with a really well-integrated crafting system.
At first, I heard about Starfield that it was a false open world.
What disappointed me the most was taking everything from Fallout and TES for the progression system, which doesn't fit the style of the game; however, that's subjective.
I doubt that it is possible to change the game engine when you see the development time required for a title like Starfield.
Especially since the first ideas for Starfield appeared around 2012, based on the game Rage, of which the creator envisioned the sequel this way.
But I admit, it's a very beautiful game, but you get bored a bit quickly.
I agree too. It's very repetitive.
Right now I'm enjoying Enshrouded. It's just a shame that some graphic options for textures are reserved for "good graphics cards." The ultra option for textures isn't for my RTX 3060 but for something above, maybe the 4060.
I regret buying it; I saw on Leboncoin that for 20 euros more, I could have an RTX 4060 from Asus as well, I'm really bummed...
But Enshrouded still looks very nice with the graphic options that were available with my card. A few captures:
Hello,
Risking being boring, I did some research and saw that even on official video game sites, looking at the screenshots, the vegetation and graphics are completely different from what I have, and even from the majority of players, so I don’t understand why it’s not the same for me.
I wanted to tinker with the ini file by changing the settings, but I can’t find it...
Otherwise, there is a file with the json extension...
Sincerely
Alright, sometimes AI isn't so bad, as long as it's not used abusively.
What is the TAA?
Best regards.
The most resource-intensive antialiasing methods like SSAA or MSAA copy a higher resolution and texture to bluntly smooth out the stair-step effect, but they consume a significant amount of resources. TAA is much lighter as it focuses on the essentials, even if it's not as effective.
The DLAA AI utilizes the tensor core components of RTX cards to achieve remarkable efficiency without consuming additional resources.
Good evening,
I saw a video from the developers this morning, and following that a big update was released, a very major update will be coming in spring with a ton of new features, and the final version will be released in autumn.
Enshrouded is ultimately a very ambitious game, the developers are listening to the players and they are adapting the game based on their expectations.
Some new screenshots:
Here lies Balin, son of Gloin.
Hello,
I have decided to sell my GTX 1660 Super and my RTX 3060 and to buy, when I can afford it, an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and also a Ryzen 9 5900X.
Knowing that I have a 600-watt power supply, will that be sufficient?
I have heard that the RTX 5060 Ti consumes just a few more watts than the RTX 3060 under load, but also that my Ryzen 5 3600 would bottleneck performance in games, is that true?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
For the power supply, it will depend on its brand and design; it needs to have a single 12V rail, otherwise a 600W will be too heavily loaded.
Ideally, you’d want at least a 700W, single-rail, and from a reputable brand.
Under load, but also that my Ryzen 5 3600 would throttle performance in games, is that true?
Yes, without a doubt, your CPU is likely to be a bottleneck, but not with a 1660 Super. With a 5060TI, that's certain.
Hello,
Be careful with the somewhat basic power supply on your motherboard for a CPU with a huge thermal envelope; the power supply needs to be of good quality.
Also, I bought Enshrouded on Steam during the sale, and it’s an excellent game, I admit, as you said, with great graphics and no stuttering on PC; when I play, my CPU, the same as yours, is only used at 35%, a Ryzen 9 is not necessary; if I were you, I'd go for an R7 5700(X).
Good evening Flo88,
Thank you very much for your response. What is a 12v rail? I don't know much about power supplies.
I find that my PC purchased four years ago was rather limited, and I learned that the Megaport store has closed...
Good evening Winux,
Thank you very much for your response as well.
I have the impression that the seller Megaport didn’t make an effort to put a good power supply in the PC; at least on the invoice, it just says: "power supply unit", that's it.
Oh, you also started playing Enshrouded, another fan. Yes, Enshrouded is really a beautiful game, and the map is huge. The developers will surely have more surprises with a couple of massive updates that are set to arrive this year.
I will follow your advice for the Ryzen 7 5700x. So, with this processor, I won’t need to change the motherboard?
What graphics card do you have, Winux?
Flo88, why a minimum 700 watt power supply? Are there different sizes?
Best regards.
Flo88, why a minimum 700-watt power supply? Are there different sizes?
For a PC, in your case, it's not really the size but the power, which ranges approximately from 300 to 1500w.
You would really need the brand and model; you have to open the PC to check, because if you choose a Ryzen 7 5700x, a good 600w is sufficient.
