Hello,

I can't find how to choose or change the homepage of a new tab when I'm on the internet (Firefox).

The option used for the homepage doesn't work for the new tab... thank you for giving me a hand if you have the solution.

Have a nice day
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.11

    Hello,

I found how to open new tabs like the startup page of the HOME button in FF 14. This allows you to get the Google search bar back but especially the associated buttons below:
    - Downloads, Bookmarks, History, Add-ons, Sync, and Settings
These buttons are very convenient for quick access.
    - Open a new tab
    - type: about:config in the address bar
    - click OK to Be careful in the box that opens.
    - find the line browser.newtab.url
    - Double-click on it and type: about:home instead of: about:newtab

To have a blank page, enter: about:blank instead of about:home

If you want to return to the thumbnail page, enter instead:
    about:newtab

This trick avoids installing an additional add-on.

Trying it is adopting it. :)

      Small addition on the homepage.

To ensure that your homepage (i.e., the tabs) opens correctly on Google search with the 5 quick access buttons (Downloads, Bookmarks, History, Extensions, Sync, and Settings):
      - Open a new tab
      - type: about:config in the address bar
      - click OK to Proceed with caution in the box that appears.
      - find the line browser.startup.homepage
      - Double-click on it and type about:home instead of the URL listed

Let me know if this works for you too.

Download this module that you will find at this address

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2221

    Then go to:

    "Tools"

    "Add-ons"

    "Options" of NewTabURL

Another tip: you can also click the mouse wheel on the browser's "Home" icon. This will open a new tab with your preferred home page.
    see you!

You can also click on the house (homepage) while pressing Ctrl. It gives the same result as Linger's solution.

      Found Gaouul's solution on Geckozone:

The latest version of Firefox displays a preview of recently visited sites by default in new tabs: It is possible to hide this page by default, replace it with another page, or access it like any other page. To display something else in a new tab or to hide it: Go to the page "about:config" (by typing it in the address bar). If this is the first time you are opening this page, you may get a warning: read it and continue. Search (using the text box at the top) for "newtab". Replace the value of "browser.newtab.url" with "about:blank" to have a blank tab (or the address of your choice). If you simply want to hide it by default while still accessing it with a single click, do not touch "browser.newtab.url" but set "browser.newtabpage.enabled" to "false". You can then view the recent sites by clicking on the grid at the top left of the new tabs. To restore the default value of an option, right-click on it and select "Reset". It is also possible to go directly to this view with the address "about:newtab" to make it, for example, the homepage. You can remove a specific site by clicking on the cross at the top right of the thumbnail in question

even though we weren't trying to understand why the newtab module wasn't working with the indication of a URL... now it works, and that's awesome!! thanks again

    Hello,

    Little extras for tabs.
Navigate with the thumbnails corresponding to your tabs without adding an addon in Firefox.

1/ Just like in Windows, you can navigate through the thumbnails corresponding to your tabs by moving to the right with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Tab.

2/ By adding Shift, Ctrl+Shift+Tab lets you go back through your thumbnails, that is, to the left.

3/ If you have many tabs open, to display ALL the thumbnails of all your tabs, type CTR+SHIFT+E

And there you go... very handy and very valuable shortcuts.

Even simpler (I just discovered it), to display the thumbnails:

      - Right-click on (a blank space in) the "Modules Toolbar" and click on "Customize"
      - Find the "Tab Groups" icon and drag it to the chosen spot in your Modules Toolbar.
      - A click on it will open the thumbnail window for your tabs.

PS: If the "Modules Toolbar" ( = status bar at the bottom of the FF window) does not appear, right-click on the "Toolbar" and then click on "Modules Toolbar" to display it.

    Hello Rafal5

If you no longer want the Orange homepage you need to delete it otherwise it will always take the place of your homepage, because it is considered as malware.

    1) Maybe Orange installed a plugin directly in Windows in addition to the browser. Download and install "RevoUninstaller 1.95"
    https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche39528-revouninstaller.html
to permanently remove it from Windows, and even from the registry.

    2) If that doesn't work you can also remove it with the "AdwCleaner" cleaner
    https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/securite/programmes_barres_publicitaires/page1.htm

    3) Reset the Google homepage

For Firefox, go to my link https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-4556479-page-accueil-nouvel-onglet-sur-firefox#44
to reset the opening of your tabs to the FF homepage.

    For Google Chrome,
    - Start Chrome and go to the Google Chrome menu "Menu" (3 lines at the top right).

    - Click on "Settings" - and click on "Extensions".
    - Remove the unwanted Orange extensions from the list.

    - Go back to the "Settings" page - Choose "On startup",
    - then choose "Open a specific page or set of pages"
    - Click on "Set of pages" and remove the Orange page from the list.

    - Go back to the "Settings" screen and choose "Manage search engines".
    - If you see Orange as the default search engine, replace it with (www.google.fr for example) and click "Make default" and click OK.

Let us know if you managed to get rid of it.

It is also worth noting that for the more tech-savvy, you can choose in the same menu with the lines

    browser.newtabpage.columns

    and

    browser.newtabpage.rows

the number of columns and rows of shortcut boxes you want by simply changing the value

    ;)

    Hello

Actually, it was quite simple; there were orange programs found in the program tree

I removed them and now I have what I want on the Mozilla homepage.

Hello, I'm having a similar problem

on my Win7 computer and WiFi, the Orange homepage keeps resetting on startup in both FF and IE10

In the FF add-ons, I disabled ORANGE but it keeps coming back every time.

I had a page that displayed instead of my startup page when I launched Mozilla. Solution that may help others:
    - Right-click on the icon that opens this famous page, properties
    - Check that the target is correct
For my part, there was the address of this site instead of "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
