Hello,
I have a Hi-Fi system compatible with the iPhone 4 and older generation iPods (big connector), but since I got an Android smartphone, I can no longer play music from my phone.
My question is: Can I use the charging cable (USB to USB Type-C) to play music from my smartphone by connecting it to the USB port?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

It all depends on whether the device in question can read via USB.

In theory, it should be the case, so if the phone can switch to "storage" mode, the system should be able to read the files on it.

However, since you have both the system and the phone... Why not just try? ;-)

According to the phones, when a USB cable is connected, you can choose the type of connection (MTP/PTP/Charge/storage) via the notification that indicates it is under USB.

I only have charge, MTP, and MIDI.

Try with MTP, see if the device is recognized.

Otherwise, the device is not compatible if it doesn't recognize it.
