Can you connect a mobile phone to a Hi-Fi system?

Hello,

I have a quick question: I have a Yamaha Hifi system and I just noticed there is a 3.5mm jack input, and below it, it says "Phones". I would like to know if I buy a male/male 3.5mm jack cable, will I be able to send music to the Hifi system and enjoy the music I have on my phone through the speakers of the Hifi system?
Photo of the jack socket in question:

I hope I was clear in my explanations.

Thanks in advance,

Matthieu

    Hello,

    As fermiparadox said, no.
However, with the reference or a clear photo of the back of the amp, we can tell you how to proceed.

    See you later

Thank you for your response, I think it should work with the cable that Pierrecastor mentioned to me.

J'ai l'arrière de ma chaîne hi-fi, marque Phono, avec sortie L et R. Puis-je y brancher ma prise jack pour mon téléphone portable pour la musique ? Merci.

No, and these are not outputs but inputs with pre-amplification and RIAA correction for a turntable that will give you a very distorted sound; you need to use a line input.
