Using pre-owned cartridges in a new printer

Hello
I have a question to which the HP staff answer no so that I will buy ink cartridges again, but I would like to have the opinion of savvy people.
Let me explain, I bought cartridges 950 and 951 for an HP Officejet Pro 6800 printer, but having not used it for too long, the print heads have dried out and even a complete cleaning does not restore proper printing.
I am therefore wondering if I can buy a new printer and use the same cartridges.
Is there really a chip recognition system or something else that would block this possibility?
Thank you

Hi,

the cartridges have dried out and you want to install them in a new printer..? The problem comes from the cartridges and not the printer, so I don't really see the point of this step. You need to buy new cartridges.

To answer your question, in principle, you can transfer functional cartridges to another printer.

One thing to try is, with 90-degree alcohol, you can use a cloth to attempt to clean the heads of the cartridges (B)

I didn't explain myself well, the cartridges are new and functional, so the defect comes from the printer itself on which I've already performed the cleaning procedure you suggested.
I just want to know if the new but already used cartridges will be usable in another compatible printer.
Thank you very much

Hello,
If they are compatible with the new printer, yes.

If new cartridges have been installed in the printer and you haven't used them for several weeks, if not months, it's quite possible that they are no longer viable or recoverable.

Finally, if you are convinced that the issue is with the printer, in any case, it needs to be replaced, and if your cartridges are indeed functional, then yes, you should be able to transfer them to the new printer, obviously, if it is compatible.
