Printer blockage if any cartridge is empty

Hello, I would like some help regarding my Brother DCP 115C printer. I have one empty ink cartridge, and the other three are full. However, I cannot use my printer or even print in black and white, even though only the yellow color is missing.
I configured the print settings to exclude color on my control panel, then followed the Brother manual to configure the printer itself using the navigation buttons. But without success! The same error message keeps appearing, saying that there is no yellow ink left!
It's impossible to use it as soon as a single color is missing!!!
Does anyone have a solution, please? Thank you!!!!
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello everyone,
I tried this solution:
Put a piece of black paper between the cartridge and the cartridge holder, on the right outer side of the printer (towards the notch of the cartridge).
Let it stick out slightly so you can remove it just in case!
It works!

Hello, I have a DCP 130C, and the paper trick is not possible. However, I took a big black marker and colored over the ink indicator on the cartridge (the transparent part in the middle). And then, miracle, the printer thinks my cartridge is full, and I managed to print. And this confirms what I already thought before: to print in black, the printer uses all colors and the black. I didn’t understand why I was emptying my color cartridges while I was only printing text.
I had set it to fast print, so the result is more gray than black, but there is no difference with or without the black cartridge.....
In any case, a big thank you for this tip; otherwise, I would have never thought of it!

When you press on the cartridge, you notice that a part slides... If you look closely, you'll see a small translucent notch, the "gauge"... For my part, I just put a stroke of indelible ink on both sides of each cartridge "to trick the printer's sensor into thinking the cartridge is still "Full"... Welcome to your home :)
