printer blockage if any cartridge is empty Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I would like some help regarding my Brother DCP 115C printer. I have one empty ink cartridge, and the other three are full. However, I cannot use my printer or even print in black and white, even though only the yellow color is missing.
I configured the print settings to exclude color on my control panel, then followed the Brother manual to configure the printer itself using the navigation buttons. But without success! The same error message keeps appearing, saying that there is no yellow ink left!
It's impossible to use it as soon as a single color is missing!!!
Does anyone have a solution, please? Thank you!!!!

Hello everyone,
I tried this solution:
Put a piece of black paper between the cartridge and the cartridge holder, on the right outer side of the printer (towards the notch of the cartridge).
Let it stick out slightly so you can remove it just in case!
It works!

Check your printer's manual; this case should be covered (an empty cartridge), and the solution should be there.

Otherwise, you can try removing the cartridge and doing a test.

Make a small hole at the top of the empty cartridge.
Fill it with water using a syringe.
Seal it with tape and put it back in place.
Answer yes to the question: have you changed the cartridge.
Better: buy a bottle of yellow and fill it with that.

Under the stress of not being able to print my assignment for tomorrow (it's 1 AM), I tried your tips, but it didn't work... you take the cartridge, shake it, even bang it, until the little bit of ink left covers the small transparent window!
And there you go, unnoticed, I trick you, the printer thinks the cartridge is full :D

Hi,
Try my method, you block a dark colored paper to make the printer think there is ink.
You lift the lid and remove your empty cartridge, place the dark colored paper on the right side of the cartridge, on the outer right side of your printer.
There you go, and oops it works.

Hello, When you insert your cartridge into the printer, you also slide a strip of dark paper on the right side of the cartridge to trick the printer into thinking that there is still ink. Bye @+

Thanks for the tip. Indeed, there is a small black float in the cartridge. You can see it when you slide the cartridge head towards the back (the front being the part where the ink comes out). So all you have to do is put a small piece of black tape on the transparent part to make the printer think that the indicator is at the bottom, as if the cartridge were full.

Epson Stylus 105, to keep printing when it indicates that the cartridges are empty:

-Print option
-Utility
-Speed and progress
-check "disable Epson Status Monitor3"
if the light remains red pretend to change the cartridge by removing it and putting it back.
It works for me.

THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT TIP!!! I applied this to my Brother DCP-153C and it worked. Brother strongly advises against operating a printer with an empty cartridge (it would damage the heads) but, when choosing between buying a new printer and continuing to use mine...

I followed Amarante's tip but it doesn't work for me.
As for the trick with the tape or dark paper, I can't see where to put it... I've tried in several places but the instructions you're giving aren't very clear...
