Issue with my screen brightness Solved

Hello,

I have had my new laptop for two weeks now. Right from the first day, I noticed a rather annoying problem: the brightness of my screen constantly varies when it is low; it slightly increases and then decreases at an irregular pace, and I don't understand why. Can someone help me? The laptop is an Asus M51VA-AS024C

Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.1

I had the same problem with an Asus X5AV, the brightness was constantly fluctuating, it was unbearable. You need to press Fn + Q to disable this function, then press Fn + F5 or Fn + F6 to manually adjust the screen brightness.

press the 'fn' key at the bottom and then one of the other keys at the top (with a small sun and + or -) to increase the brightness

I know that, I'm talking about a malfunction of those keys, when I want to increase or decrease the brightness, I get a response but the light level remains the same.

I solved the problem myself. I just had to press the Fn + Q keys. I want to point out that the function of these keys is not specified either in my computer's manual or on the keyboard.

Hello gentlemen, I have a strange issue. I have an HP 6730s laptop that I bought not long ago, and after a few days I noticed that when I use it unplugged (on battery), the brightness dims and then increases by itself from time to time. I don't know if it's a graphics card problem or a screen failure.
If anyone could provide me with an explanation for this issue, I would be very grateful.

Hello everyone,

I also have the same issue with the light sensor on my new Asus X56T laptop... However, I can't disable it using Fn+Q as suggested in the forum, or with Fn+A as I read elsewhere!
If it helps, I'm on Windows XP :)

Hello everyone!

Here is my problem:

I turned on my PC (Packard Bell Easy Note). So far so good...
The computer starts up... the icons appear... MSN displays... then suddenly, the screen goes dark, as if the brightness has been suddenly reduced by 30% (or as if it has been set to "power saving"...)

I have already checked in the control panel and all the modes (normal - power saving - high performance) are set to 100% brightness!!!

Since the first few seconds give a clear and bright image, my question is:

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

I just fixed the brightness issue for my "hp6730s". You just need to update its BIOS.

You need to download it and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB and voilà, the problem is solved ;)

I have the same automatic brightness problem, I've searched everywhere without success... I have an Asus ROG G-55 and can't seem to turn this thing off. I tried Fn+Q, nothing, I looked in Power4Gear, there is indeed an option, but it's disabled, so I enabled it and then disabled it again, and nothing. Any ideas?

The fn+q or a support not being active on my PC, I resolved the issue without any computer manipulation.
I tricked the brightness sensor with the light from a LED flashlight placed on top of it.
It's barbaric, but it works, no more fluctuation in brightness!
