connecting a Pixma MP620 WiFi printer

I bought a Canon Pixma MP620 printer and I can't connect it via Wi-Fi. It works perfectly with the cable. Has anyone encountered the same problem and how did they solve it?

PROBLEM SOLVED.
Hello everyone, I had the same issue with my Canon MP620, but the problem is solved. In fact, when the installation is complete with the USB cable, you need to check the correct settings on the printer in the "network settings list" menu. At the top of the page, it should state active connection and SSID freebox for me since I'm with Free. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the MAC address. Go back to the computer, control panel, add a printer. (In fact, the computer considers the first installation with the USB cable as another printer). In the first window click next, for network or local printer check local printer and plug and play detection then next. Negative detection, normal, no USB cable, click next. Create a new port type Canon BJNP Port (should appear grayed out before checking). Next, add a port, check MAC address and enter the address shown in the printer window. The printer will be recognized under a different name. All that's left is to rename it. Keep the first installation via USB cable just in case... Make sure to allow printer sharing, and it should be all set. I really had to sweat for this.

I had the problem that my livebox was not showing up in the list of Wi-Fi access points during setup.
I solved the problem by finding the MAC address of the printer in the printer control menu under Settings > Device Settings > Network Settings > Wireless Network Settings List > MAC Address.
Then I went to add it to the list of MAC addresses allowed by my livebox on its control page (type the address http://192.168.1.1/ in your web browser; the password and login are "admin" by default).
After that, the livebox was detected by the printer.

I still set it up manually; didn't have time to check if it appeared on the list of access points.
So I entered the name of my livebox or SSID (by default "livebox-####" where # represents numbers). I set the WEP key to 128 bits and entered the numbers listed under my livebox.

For my part, the issue was a bit easier to resolve because there was no need to enter the MAC address

Issue to resolve:
When installing the printer, the Wi-Fi is activated, but as soon as it is used for the first time, the printer is considered offline; indeed, Windows considers it as being connected via USB since the printer installation is done physically connected via the USB cable

Solution:
After completing the installation, create a new printer dedicated to Wi-Fi
The MP620 printer will then appear as 2 distinct printers in the Windows printer panel, the first for USB use, the second for Wi-Fi use

Steps to create the dedicated printer:
1) turn on the printer WITHOUT connecting it via USB
2) control panel, printers, add a printer
3) the printer will be detected via Wi-Fi thanks to the previously completed installation: select it and confirm
4) Windows creates the printer and immediately updates the driver
5) after the driver update message is shown, the printer is operational via Wi-Fi, it is now checked by default (MP620 series WS)
6) if one day you want to use it connected via USB in case you don’t have a router, select the other printer dedicated to USB (MP620 series printer)

Hi everyone.
After a hassle, a headache, and countless calls to Canon, without success, I’m sharing the solution.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW!!
The MP 620 must first be connected via USB to set it up.
Personally, I’m using a Mac, but the procedure should be pretty much the same with Windows.
POINT 1, your printer will communicate via your box or router.
This box has a name and a password, usually a WPA or WEP key (make a note of these).
POINT 2, the printer is turned on, but not connected via USB.
Now: using the scroll wheel…
Settings > Device settings > Network settings > Change wired/Wireless > Wireless active.
Then, turn off the printer, and while it’s off, connect it to the computer via USB.

POINT 3, turn the printer back on.

And on the computer,

Either you have never installed this printer:
In that case, insert the installation CD and run it, following the instructions that include selecting the access point (name of your box’s access point) + the WPA code (password for the box).
Confirm the sending of the settings to the printer.

Or you have already installed this printer:
Launch the application, ensuring you select "installation" (for me, ij Network tool
for Mac) and follow the instructions that include selecting the access point (name of your box’s access point) + the WPA code (password for the box).
Confirm the sending of the settings to the printer.

POINT 4,
Turn off the printer…
Remove the USB cable…
Turn the printer back on…

Sometimes you will need to re-select the correct printer and scanner in the print settings on the computer.
