Peritel to HDMI conversion

Question

Hello,
Currently, I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV connected to a VCR via an 8-meter scart cable that is built-in (non-removable). I intend to buy a hard disk recorder. How can I connect the TV and the recorder using HDMI? Are there adapters available that convert Scart to HDMI, or is it possible to desolder the Scart and solder HDMI connectors instead?

The topic is a bit old, but since it has been brought up, we'll add our two cents :)

Converters were really expensive at the time of the question.

Now they still cost something, but it's reasonable.

And don't just get a simple SCART/HDMI cable because a cable won't convert the digital signal into an analog signal.

Hello, um, if your SCART cables go through a wall baguette or in a tube, you cut the SCART, take an HDMI cable, attach it to the SCART cable, and the HDMI will follow; otherwise, I think you can't have a SCART-HDMI adapter. I hope I helped you.

I want to know if it is compatible with my Condor 5000 XCI satellite receiver, as this receiver does not have a YUV output or others, only the peritel output. Without being an expert in the field:
Peritel = analog
HDMI = high definition digital

So if conversion exists, the quality is not necessarily there.

A concrete example:

I just bought Babar DVDs for my son. Aside from not having to rewind the VHS, the quality is exactly the same as the VHS because the media has not been remastered.

So if you want to fully enjoy HDMI, you need dedicated equipment.

Here, I finally bought a Netgem Netbox for TNT:

Several scenarios:

You are no longer receiving TNT via the Livebox but through a TNT decoder like the Netgem Netbox (FNAC and DARTY). It has a SCART connector, HDMI, and RJ45.

Either you buy a SCART to S-video/RCA adapter. It’s not very expensive as an adapter. On one side is the SCART and on the other, there are 3 RCA connectors (yellow, white, and red) and an S-video socket (which looks like a PC PS2).
Then you need RCA cables.

Take the Samsung 640GB multimedia hard disk recorder equipped with 2 peritel inputs and 1 HDMI output. Front screen for the time remote control. It is very good. I had the same problem as you with the Livebox. In fact, there are several models, and there is one with an HDMI output. Ask your provider to change your model, and they will exchange it for you!
So I connected the Livebox to my PC screen without any issues, and everything works perfectly.
However, I don't know why, but the signal from the Livebox is 50 Hz, and the screen ideally needs 60 Hz.
I think we're losing a bit of quality.

HDMI cables are much thinner than SCART cables. You can't run an HDMI cable through the SCART cable sheath? Since HDMI cables are shielded, you'll run into issues if you try to retrieve the cables.

your TV no longer has a Scart, is that possible? It's an analog connection that takes up physical space, but it's very likely that there are "components," three RCA sockets of different colors, to which you need to add sound with two more RCA, red and white; there might also be a yellow RCA for Video Composite, a single conductor, but the sound is in addition like for the "composite." With these connections, you stay in analog and can easily find adapters for a Scart. If you really don't have any of that, you'll need to buy a DVD player with an HDMI output (digitally transformed), it will work for your TV but will your wallet appreciate it??

Solution:
1- To switch from one to another, you need an extremely expensive converter that has no interest in terms of quality!!!
2- Change your "livebox"; as a reminder, it is rented, so you can ask your provider to replace it for free with an HDMI version
3- Since the goal is to display on a computer screen, a Y/C to VGA converter can be easily found at Darty or elsewhere...
4- If you are subscribed to a Triple-play offer, you can access this same offer for free on your computer without going through a "livebox", just with the internet connection!!! This is called web tv...

I'm really not sure that the HDMI/SCART conversion will be useful for you. If your TV only has a SCART socket, it’s probably not very new, so I don’t know if it will handle HD well, and with a SCART connection, you will definitely lose quality. In the end, you won’t get the quality you would expect from your player. Do you have a SCART socket on the back of your player?

Hello, the answer is simple and non-negotiable The PERITEL will always remain an ANALOG connection and HDMI is a DIGITAL port that recent TVs have! So to play Blu-ray, you need a recent TV with an HDMI port, anything else would just be costly tinkering. Technology has moved past the digital threshold, the Peritel will quickly disappear bye

I bought it and it works.
There are two types of converters: PERITEL to HDMI or HDMI to RCA PERITEL.
I found them on this site, but I think they can be found elsewhere as well:

I wanted to connect my Freebox to my old TV with PERITEL because it still works very well, but I couldn't find an adapter, and finally I found one.
So it is possible to go from HDMI to PERITEL and vice versa.
