Hello, I have a PS3 slim and I want to set up Gran Turismo 6. The PS3 updated and now it says that the last update has been completed and it shows on the screen "preparing updates, please do not turn off the system" and it doesn't move. I wanted to wait a long time, but the PS3 shuts down without changing the writing on the screen. I apologize for not using very technical terms; I’m new to video games and new technology, I'm 60 years old. Best regards

    Hi,
    From what I understand, you've already tried restarting the console... if not, please do so.

    If that doesn't work, maybe try deleting the game completely and then reinstalling it.

    Otherwise, when you post messages, please make a little effort with the formatting; it makes your message more readable and understandable.

    Excuse me if I wasn't clear in my post, I'll clarify: when I put the game disc in the PS, it shows "preparing updates" and then it just stays there. I apologize if I wasn't clear enough, I'm not used to doing this. See you later.

      Alright, take out the PS3 game's Blu-ray, and follow the instructions in this link to delete everything that may have been installed:

      Now that the game is uninstalled, try reinstalling it. Put the Blu-ray back in your console, then start the installation, make sure to let the updates complete, and see what happens.

    Merci, ça mouline et ça télécharge des données de mise à jour. Ce qui m'interpelle, c'est qu'en bas de l'écran, il y a une phrase qui dit "impossible d'effectuer le téléchargement de ce contenu en tâche de fond". Est-ce bien normal ? Tu en penses quoi ?

      Yes, it's possible.
      What it means is that you must/cannot do anything else on your console while it's downloading.
      Nothing to worry about.
      Let's hope that the installation and updates go through this time.

    Thank you Ghörgh for your kind words, but as I mentioned in the first post, I am a 60-year-old dad who doesn't have much means and is looking to please my 13-year-old son with second-hand equipment without knowing much about electronic products.       Modern games can sometimes take a very long time to install, as they are quite large, so I'm not really surprised.
      Do you have a good internet connection?

    EXCUSE ME FOR BOTHERING YOU AGAIN Ghörgh, BUT DO WE NEED TO STAY IN FRONT OF THE PLAY SO THAT IT DOESN'T GO INTO SLEEP MODE OR CAN WE JUST LET IT DO ITS THING EVEN IN SLEEP MODE, AND WILL IT STILL UPDATE WHILE IN SLEEP MODE?

    Ghörgh, I thank you for your patience. Gran Turismo 6 is set up; now I just need to know how to access the courses because the game is asking me for pip codes, etc. It's late, so I'm going to bed. Thanks again to you.

      Do you (or your son) have a PSN account?

      Does the console/game prompt you to enter your username and password?

      A PSN account is an account that allows you to play multiplayer on Playstation.
      I just checked, multiplayer is anyway more accessible, so there's no need to try.

      In your case: when you're on the game's menu, you normally have a button labeled "Career" or something like that. What happens if you try to go there?

    When we go to "career," a table appears on the right side of the screen (car choice, car settings, options, manual, save), and when we confirm any of the options, the entire table disappears.
