PS3 issues with game load times

Hello everyone, my name is Vincent, and I’ve had a PS3 for 8 to 9 years, a fat model, and I still play FIFA. It's always worked perfectly, but for the past month, it crashes during game loading, though not always at the same spot. After turning it off and back on, it sometimes works, but it can take between 30 to 45 minutes of restarts, which is annoying. I tried all my other games, and I feel like only the older games aren't freezing. Out of frustration, I took it all apart and cleaned everything, but it still crashes during tests. I then tackled the thermal paste; did I do the right thing?! I’ll reassemble it to find out, but without my Play, it's a disaster... Hoping for many responses, thanks in advance.

Hi

The crashes and freezes are likely due to the hard drive, changing the thermal paste is therefore useless, so it's possible that you have damaged it or done something you shouldn't have since then.

It was released in Japan in 11/2006 so well it's 8 years old at most
but that's already quite a lot for a FAT, it has had its time and by the way, you're lucky to have it. As long as it works, that's great but to be honest, I don't think it will last much longer, you'll need to reinvest, at worst you can get a used 12GB (the cheapest) take out the hard drive from the FAT and just pop it in the 12GB. However, you will need to do a backup beforehand, if you put the hard drive directly without a backup it will be formatted during installation = Everything lost.

To get back to the initial problem, do option 3 from the recovery

If that doesn't work after that, you'll have to go to 5 which deletes everything, so also do a backup beforehand.

And finally, if after all that there's still nothing and if you have an internal hard drive somewhere, try it out. Always remember to do a backup first.

Thank you very much! My thermal paste is on its way; I've removed the old one, so I have to put some back on. After that, I'll see what it does for me, and I'll do what you told me! Thank you.

The thermal paste is changed for a YLOD; you haven't had it, so why change it? Knowing that, in any case, it's only temporary, it will happen again sooner or later, and sometimes it may not come back at all.
