Hello everyone
expert.cartridgeworld.fr sent me to a site proposing to solve the problem, the issue is that this printer is not listed.
On the other hand, I am not a pro, but on my printer, there is no "RESUME" or "POWER", maybe you could tell me more
Thank you, but how do you empty the absorber if we manage to perform the operation (do we need to disassemble something)? I really find it shameful to limit the lifespan of devices, just for a story of commerce!
Thank you for your help, I’m counting on you, this machine is in excellent condition without that!
Best regards

Hello,
Here's what brings me here, I bought my Canon PIXMA MG 4150 series printer. The machine is 4 years old and would thus be headed for the "trash", the following message appears:

Ink absorber almost full "Contact service center"

This indicates that the ink absorber needs to be replaced... what should I do to solve the problem as the printer goes into error! Can I perform the operation myself?
Information gathered: •Canon told me over the phone that this printer is an old model and they no longer repair it since 2014
• The seller of the machine offers to change the printer as it's not very expensive: I do not accept this waste!

I am disappointed!
Can you provide me with a solution, as I am sure there is a way to solve the problem, I am reaching out to the experts!
Thank you!
Best regards

Normally, the ink absorber is not replaced (planned obsolescence!)... It is designed (in theory) to last the lifetime of the machine; the print head should also be at the end of its life....

If you want to replace the absorber, it is generally located underneath the machine on almost the entire surface. It's a kind of highly absorbent felt designed for the type of ink used in printers.

Given the prices one can see for similar absorbers on distance selling websites (between 35 and 50 euros), and even then it's not specific to this printer, it's not worth it for a machine that cost 70 euros back then....

Some people disassemble the machine and wring out the absorber... It is very, very, very, very messy (and it stains severely!!) but it can be done... although generally you have to take everything apart since it's not designed for that in the first place.

Thank you, contrariness, but I admit that it leaves me dumbfounded... everything revolves around commerce and we only know how to talk about money now! Managing to get by, saving money, all of that is out of style...!
However, you talk to me about dismantling the absorber; we will do it... I caught a glimpse of the absorber mat!
I paid more for my printer, if I remember correctly, because it has a scanner! THANK YOU, contrariness, and have a good day.

I saw that someone soaked the ink pad in 90° alcohol and then rinsed it with clear water, repeating the process several times while of course taking precautions not to stain their hands or the sink, that's obvious! It's a really good idea that I keep in mind, but how do I reset the printer to zero... at least my model...!
There you go! Thanks again, and I'm open to any suggestions for printer troubleshooting.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the information. We must absolutely fight against planned obsolescence. And support one another. A thousand thanks.
