Hello,
I recently bought a Samsung CLP 300 laser printer that was working perfectly until now. But recently, when I start printing a poster or something else, everything is misaligned. The top of my poster is printing right on the edge of the sheet (the top). I checked the paper tray, and I don't see anything wrong.
Also, sometimes it jams on 80g paper and even 160g, whereas there were no issues before.
Is there a solution to these problems?

Hello to all the unfortunate owners of the CLP 300.
Here is the link that will allow you to download the tutorial I made... in *.pdf format on troubleshooting the Samsung CLP300... well, let's say, cleaning... which seemingly improves a lot of things!

Good luck to you
I look forward to your feedback

Alright 100%: I’ve used my 300 very little (meaning: I haven't had to change the ink yet) but the paper feeding doesn’t work anymore. We start a print job, we hear a hell of a noise as if the gears are slipping against each other, and paper jam error, even though the paper hasn’t left the tray.
I think I'm going to trash it right away since it's no longer under warranty.
Any advice? In any case, for me it's a piece of S..T.

Sure, I agree with you, it's probably the same issue you're having; the paper starts to rise by 2 cm and then the printer shows a red error light and that's it. I think there's a problem with the paper feed but I don't see anything obvious, and I've taken it apart quite a bit, so if anyone has a solution to the problem, thank you!
I have another comment to add:
I found a trick that allowed me to edit a few pages, here it is:
Underneath the machine (to flip it over, it's better to remove the print block to avoid ink spreading everywhere) I have access to a kind of black sponge that drives the paper to the print block.
This gadget, over time, collects dust and talcum powder (paper manufacturers use talcum powder to help the paper glide better in their machines) but, in the long run, this talcum - or the manufacturing dust - clogs this plastic part.
If, with a dull scraper, or a knife, or any other non-cutting blade, you gently scrape this kind of sponge, you remove the grime that has penetrated it; this grime is what prevents the feed from working because the feeder is covered with a kind of slippery film.
Once this part is fairly clean, the paper feed works.
I hope this can help some of you.
Please let me know at: pierre.laxenaire@sfr.fr, thank you.

Hello,
A CLP 30 for 2 years. Absolutely no problems.

On the 300, there is a firmware update on the Samsung website....
Here is how I fixed the CLP-300 that was stalling after a few seconds:
open the front door, remove the cartridge block;
at the back of this block, there is a contact comb fixed to the cartridge block by 2 screws; remove the 2 screws and put them back in while inserting a split washer as a spacer (for the 2 screws) between the block and the contact comb;
reassemble everything.
the problem came from a poor contact between the comb and the rest of the printer
I am happy if this can help someone.

It's good, I can see that Samsung has served the same crap to everyone. It's cool.
Well, for me, this is the first and last Samsung printer.

WE ARE IN May 2014 and nothing has improved. I have a Samsung c460W and after 7 months of use, it's already broken down. The waste container and the imaging unit need to be replaced, which costs as much as the machine itself. I'll just have to buy another one given the price of the consumables. What a great deal!
Hello, on my side, I'm experiencing the same issue with the Samsung color laser CLP 350N after only 2 months and barely 100 printed pages. It's outrageous, especially the follow-up:
1) This machine is sold as semi-professional, but it doesn't hold up.
I contacted Samsung to invoke the manufacturer's warranty: they sent a technician in person within 2 days. Bravo!
But... after a good hour of work, the technician left without having found the fault! The model would be too new (sic!) so no feedback on failures yet...
And worse, the imaging unit (which he claimed was the issue) is considered a consumable, hence not covered by the warranty!!! It's scandalous, knowing that it represents about 70% of the machine (the rest is the power supply, the motherboard, the fuser, and the paper feed mechanism).
2) It's been a week since the technician came, still no solution. The retailer (Compufirst, although approved by major brands like Lenovo) and the manufacturer Samsung are just passing the buck...
Samsung is aware of the machine failures, as they respond quickly at first and don't make a fuss. But as soon as the situation gets tough, they go quiet....
3) It's hard to judge based on a single case, but I have the following questions:
- Am I a victim of a bad batch?
- Did Samsung launch innovative models in the entry/mid-range segment a bit too quickly in the market?
4) Doubting the manufacturer's seriousness, I would STRONGLY ADVISE against the Samsung CLP350N!!!
Especially in online sales, by the way, as you end up quite helpless, with no way to make a scene in the store... or threaten to leave with another device....
Vinnye, I strongly advise you to contact Samsung's service promptly to invoke the warranty, as this seems to be a recurring issue!!!

Hello, thanks for your reply. It's still strange all these problems. I was able to print, but only by playing with the margins, which isn’t normal. Moreover, another issue: I changed the yellow toner last week. To save money, I bought compatible toners. Yesterday it blocked, no more yellow ink which is supposed to last for 1000 pages, knowing very well that this number is reduced when there are photos: I printed 150 A4 posters with a photo and 150 invitations with a small photo (2 invitations per page): we are far from 1000 pages. Is it due to these compatible cartridges??? Good question!!!
I almost cracked and bought a CLP 350 ... and then I looked at the price of the cartridges. I concluded that it was cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace the cartridge set... It left me dreaming!
But it's the same at work: the A3 color duplex laser printers also have issues and are quite expensive to use. I think it's inherent to the mechanical aspect of the thing, with lots of small parts whose construction, although precise, isn't very sturdy!

Hello everyone,
I had a CLP300n that jammed like crazy on a Saturday around midnight on Canal+!!! But... don't worry, I've just made an awesome tutorial (with photos, comments, etc.!!) to help you out... good people!
Provided you haven't thrown it in the trash!! Of course!!
After consulting it? If you don't have two left hands? You won't be complaining about Samsung anymore!
Just waiting for me to contact the forum moderator to find out how to integrate photos into the text in a reply or a tutorial!
Also, as you can see in my signature... I'm a total fool and I've managed to buy the N510 pack + CLP 310 laser printer from... guess who?... SAMSUNG!!
I haven't received it yet and... and they say, poor me!!... that the printer doesn't work!!!
Damn.. it's becoming a hassle!!
I'll keep you updated!! I hope mine works!!

Good evening everyone,
Well, I must admit that I am yet another person losing patience with a Samsung printer... that's driving me completely crazy! Just to clarify, my model: CLX 3160FN. After reading your posts (very interesting), I realize that I'm far from being the only one experiencing these persistent problems!
For my part, the first issue encountered: constant paper jams… I claimed my warranty… they replaced it for me… everything was fine until then… except that the machine is not perfectly identical… the port system has been revised at the back… I can no longer properly connect both the phone and fax at the same time… if anyone has found a solution? I emphasize that everything is correctly configured, for sure!
But for the past few weeks, two bands where the printing is not clear clearly appear on each of my printed documents! I use this multifunction printer in the context of my business, I print quotes for my clients… how can I present them when these are not properly readable?! Just imagine what a new client thinks about the effectiveness of my future work!
Third issue: the upper scanner shows streaks (this time in
black!) on each scanned page, forcing me to scan/copy with the "mirror" scanner (lower one). Any solutions?
All that to say, I completely agree, don’t buy Samsung for printing!
I’m in a hurry to test our friend's tutorial to at least try to fix the printing quality; I can't see myself replacing the imaging complex of this... PIECE OF JUNK!
And thank you for this constructive and calming topic! It’s reassuring to know that we’re not the only disappointed ones feeling cheated!

Hello
I don't have a CLP 300,
but did you choose the right type of paper, or did you check that the drum hadn't moved, that the clips were locked, and that the wheels were turning well for the paper (sometimes you need to clean the pads with glass cleaner if the pads get clogged with dust or grease, the sheet struggles to glide)? Hoping this helps you find and fix your issue.

we also have a CLP 300
Consumables that wear out like crazy
breaks down as soon as one color cartridge is empty
sellers without consumables (Boulanger)
very expensive consumables
and now it crashes because we already need to change the printing unit (in short, the heart of the system)

Hello,
Bottom of the bowl for us... bad luck with this printer which, on paper, promised a lot... especially since for 4 to 5 months it was more than sufficient, even perfect, for my relatively limited needs!!!
As for the cartridges... no luck either (I mean with your offer)... I received the packs of 4 colors yesterday, coming from France (at €122) and, this morning, coming from Germany (at around €79... man... I had totally forgotten... this site!)... Well! However... if you can sell them to me at a good price (e.g. €50 for the 4 color pack)... I might reconsider the question.
Sorry for being so direct.
I truly believe that, if this keeps up, the printer will be replaced before the cartridges run out.
Indeed... the 1.5 to 2 cm offset at the top of the sheets... which nearly always cuts off the header, is still there!... and the drum is at the end of its life (but I don’t think it costs more than the printer! ... Right??? well then!!! we’re in trouble!!

Hello!
I also have a CLP 300. After some installation hurdles, I started a large batch of printing, and along the way it stopped, and since then I've been unable to get it to work. Recently I tried again, and it's working! Except there’s still this loud noise, it must be some components repeatedly hitting against something, I don't know what. It's not normal! By the way, now I’m being careful with it, otherwise it's going to cause me some trouble; it sometimes stops as if it’s out of breath, you just have to wait and then it starts up again!
Does anyone know how to stop this noise?

I would like to respond to all the criticisms made about the Samsung laser printer by adding my own. Indeed, I bought mine about a month ago on Cdiscount, a CLP 315 series that hasn't even managed to print 300 pages. Currently, the prints come out with completely improbable colors (like sepia) on printouts that require a lot of black; the black ends up with white streaks covering three-quarters of the page.
On top of that, there are all the noises that aren't reassuring. As Ilka said, this machine is marketed as semi-professional (therefore for regular use), I find it rather bold of Samsung to sell such a product that will ultimately gather dust at the back of a desk, because let’s not kid ourselves, if the problem comes from the drum or something else considered consumable by Samsung, they will kindly tell us that they won’t cover it under warranty.
I think Samsung has ventured into a type of product they don't master.
In conclusion, it’s a scandal to sell a machine that can’t even hold up for a month!!!
Don't buy this printer! Save your money to buy a model that may be more expensive but will ensure good performance!

Hello, I have a CLP 300 and my problem is that the black and white documents come out gray while the color documents are perfect. The drum is new, I changed the toner but the problem persists, I don't know where the issue comes from.
On another note, for the jam issue, each time you need to check if the toner collector is full; if so, either buy a new one or empty and rinse it with water to make it look like new, and normally it shouldn't jam. If anyone has a solution to my black and white printing problem, I'm all ears.

Shitty Samsung, I've never liked this brand except I fell for the fast 300 compact... I was satisfied for 5 months, even very very satisfied, and now for the past 3 months the black is printing illegibly and the colors perfectly... As soon as I changed the black cartridge for a new one, the problem started... Thanks if you have any idea and I don't have a warranty, does Samsung repair?

Hello, I confirm all the problems with this printer, especially regarding the noise from the gears!
For the paper jams, I had the same issue, but by changing the type of paper in the printer settings, it got better!!
You need to choose heavy paper!
As for the cartridges, you can find them on eBay for less than 40 euros for four, just have to see the effectiveness!
Good luck

Hello,
I see we're having a good time here!!
As for me, with the CLP 300N (costing over 300 bucks!)... after 6/7 months?... well!... not to break the rule... after a year of having it?... I've only used original toner cartridges + one complete set of cartridges, and I've had nothing but recurring problems!
In total? It must have printed 1000 copies (60% in B&W)!.. the 5% is nonsense!...
Without wanting to add more?... it's a disaster!... what a piece of junk!
1) it chews through toner like there's no tomorrow... far from 1000 color pages... maybe 200 pages max!!
2) just like the others... after 3 months?... constant paper jams!
3) paper height shift of 1.5 to 2 cm... it doesn’t print my headers... plus, it's not systematic... sometimes it works fine... so I have to readjust the layout in Word again!...
4) the drum meant for 4000 prints already shows signs of fatigue!... in B&W it's full of white and gray horizontal streaks as if it's done for!!
5) to top it all off, the cyan cartridge is empty... complete shutdown of the machine! impossible to print in B&W!! even with color mode turned off!!
I'm really questioning the quality of this printer!!
So?... since I believe it has a 3-year on-site warranty, and since the customer service seems to be very responsive, and... incredibly honest, could you give me the customer service number?
Just to see if it's as ineffective as you say!
Thank you!

wow !!!
What a problem with your CLP-300 printer. I don't know if the version in your country is the same as ours in Quebec, but I haven't noticed any of these issues and I've been using it for over a year, and I can say that I've printed a lot of pages. I'm still using the original toners.
My only issue is that I can't find the option to print in black text. Can someone tell me where I should go? I've looked numerous times and I only see the grayscale option.
thank you

Hello,
Indeed, the black and white option doesn’t seem to be implemented, but… we can work around it!
Go to the specific settings panel of the printer --> printer settings... and you'll find the "printer setting utility" table... click on graphic --> color --> click on color settings --> slide the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow sliders all the way to the left and the Black slider all the way to the right.
And there you go!!
Well! ... this is only valid if you’re doing a large production of black and white documents! ...
If you want to return to normal color mode... click on Default settings.
It is obvious that this will reset all previous settings (if you made any! .. personally? .. I leave it as it is)... but ... at least you get what you want!... and you have to admit that with those settings, when it’s not jamming or misaligning the print towards the top, the color outputs aren’t that bad (by default)
What do you think?

I found the solution, it's to throw it out the window, or crush it with your car, blow it up with dynamite, and if you wouldn't dare do that, sell it on eBay for 5 euros...

For my part, a little over a year and 20,000 impressions without any real problems.
But I find it strange that now I have to pay €149 for the image when I can get a new one for €169.

Hello,
I would like to inform those who still have a CLP-300 and haven't smashed it against a wall that Samsung has released a firmware update for the following issue:
The problem only occurs with black, resulting in light bands during printing. This issue appears to be a discrepancy between the development roller and the OPC (the green drum). The firmware will increase the voltage between these two parts, which enhances the attraction of toner particles to the drum.
Having tested it multiple times, it works about 50% of the time.
Since the issue originates from the imaging unit, we find it on printers using the same type of imaging unit, namely CLP-300, CLP-350, CLX-2160, and CLX-3160. All these machines have their new associated firmware. Here is the link regarding these firmwares:

Thank you JO!
I returned the printer to customer service twice and they did NOTHING: I still had light areas in the black and white prints.
I was about to stuff the Samsung into a certain orifice of the customer service manager when I came across this post and the firmware update.
It works! The white shadow gradually disappeared (sorry Steven Seagal), and after a few prints, everything returned to normal.
Let’s hope it lasts...

I also had this kind of problem, in my case it was on a CLP 315W, the issue was a small rubber pad that came off in the system that takes the paper. To check, remove the paper tray and lay the printer on its back. You will see 2 white rollers and 2 gray pads, at the bottom there is a small black part that pivots slightly. Check if you have the pad on top, otherwise your problem comes from there. I replaced it with a piece of a mountain bike inner tube... I know it sounds like a makeshift solution, but it works like crazy.
After a little over a year of moderate use, it has a big white line (not printed) in the middle of all the pages.
Added to this are consumables that wear out quickly and are very expensive.
This is really not a good deal - NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Hi friends..
I’m joining the club of dissatisfied SAMSUNG users. Indeed, I also have the pleasure of owning a rare CLP 300 printer, a mythical beast, which must be tested absolutely....
I’m joking, of course; it's really a piece of crap. Personally, I have had it for barely two years, 4000 prints, and a bunch of vertical white streaks in my case, always in the same places.
After contacting SAMSUNG’s customer service and a specialized company since my printer is no longer under warranty... sniff... what a mistake not to have taken the 10-year on-site J+1 additional warranty for €500 (more expensive than the printer...), it turns out that the imaging unit would be out of order. Too bad, the color prints are perfect; it seems that only the black and white drum is faulty...
After carefully reading the printer's user manual, I saw that the imaging unit was rated for 20,000 copies!!!! What an insult to the customer! I’ve only done 4000....
I then took up my beautiful pen to contact them with a registered letter, etc... They sent me back a denial despite my insistence (2 letters, sending a print example, the print log attesting to the 4000 copies, a copy of their manual mentioning the 20000 copies, etc..).
I then decided to join your club so that potential future buyers of SAMSUNG printers know what to expect. I find that the company is not very serious (regarding this printer model but possibly other products as well...)
They can always say that these are growing pains and that the new models are better.
Here’s my opinion on the matter: I think that when one wants to validate the design of a printer, it’s not very difficult, or even very costly, to print until it breaks down and observe the problems one by one while trying to resolve them until the machine is considered acceptable.
The problem with SAMSUNG is that their tolerance threshold seems very low, if not indecent; it could even be considered a deceit since the technical specifications are not even met.
In summary, avoid buying a SAMSUNG laser printer, or if you do, do it knowingly and be sure to get the on-site warranty, it will definitely come in handy.
A word to the wise.
A dissatisfied user left with €150 worth of consumables for a broken printer that cost €200, a very nice deal...

Thank you very much! It will certainly help me avoid breaking something or having extra parts when reassembling.
By the way, I bought the CLP-300 for a very specific reason: it's one of the few GDI laser printers on the market for which the manufacturer provides a driver for Linux!
Okay, I admit, the installation of the Samsung driver is a bit of a hassle...
So, I tried two Open-Source drivers:
http://splix.sourceforge.net/
http://foo2qpdl.rkkda.com/
The Splix package is buggy on Ubuntu, and it’s a pain to compile. So, I chose the second one, which works like a charm.
For your information:

I advise everyone to carry out the dmjh operations, I admit that the result is pretty good.
On my side, it's not ecstasy but I see the difference, but before reading this little tutorial, this printer was driving me crazy so I did a bit of everything, like cleaning the imaging in broad daylight and without rushing, so I probably damaged the whole thing.
Thanks again to dmjh
I read all of this with great interest, of course I own a PHASER 6110MFP which is none other than the SAMSUNG CLX-3160FN. Obviously, the cartridges are locked by Xerox and I have 2 complete sets that are unusable, also resalable...
Seeing the explanations about cleaning, it's the same development unit.
I think that if Xerox has validated this machine under their name, they must have looked twice and probably imposed a fairly precise set of requirements, let's say a guarantee of quality...
For my part, it's the yellow that is problematic and is absent or almost absent from the prints...
Does anyone have an idea on where cleaning might be needed...
On the other hand, is it possible to install a Samsung unit on the Xerox?
Does anyone have a Samsung unit, even broken, just to check if Xerox accepts it?
Thanks dmjh
Best regards
I came to take a little tour on the Samsung forum, because I have the same printer as the one you described!!!! I can tell you that you are a genius, because of what you did on your printer while looking at your photos and comments!!!
Let me introduce myself, I am a (( granny of 63 years old,)) my printer is 3 and a half years old and for the first 3 years I never had any issues, not even changing my cartridges, which surprises a lot of cartridge sellers. In July 2010, I still had to change all 4 cartridges as they were worn out. For about fifteen days, while I was using my printer, it started to act up (stopping). I took it to where I bought it, a professional in computer science. He looked at it and told me it was impeccably clean (something he doesn't see often). To them, it was just that my cartridges weren't pushed in properly.... Moving on, for the past eight days, I have printed a dozen sheets and again it won't start (the lights start to blink, showing green, but immediately turn red!!! And it won't print at all.
Young man, could you tell me if you have any idea what the issue with my printer (Samsung CLP 300 series) might be?
Best regards
