Wifi issue on Samsung ML-1630W printer

Hello,

About fifteen days ago, I bought a SAMSUNG printer, model ML-1630W. This printer works very well when connected via a network cable or USB.

However, when connected via Wifi (in "INFRASTRUCTURE" mode or "AD-HOC" mode), the connection seems to go to sleep after a few minutes. And despite the indicators and other test pages showing that everything is fine, under Windows Vista, the printer appears frustratingly OFFLINE.

Restarting the devices does not solve the problem: it is necessary to set up the WiFi connection of the printer again (with a cable, through its online interface and then from Windows) for the printer to work wirelessly again.... but only for a few minutes.

It seems that this issue is not new with Samsung printers (?) at least with the ML-1630W. Any idea?

Thank you for your messages
Best regards

I don't know if it will help you, but here's how I proceeded:

My solution concerns the Samsung ML-1630W printer connected via wifi to a Freebox, along with a PC running Windows 7 64bit.
I also want to mention that in the Freebox management interface, I first assigned a fixed IP address (linked to the printer's MAC address) in the Internet/Configure my Freebox router section, then Permanent DHCP leases (at the bottom of the page).

    1) Connect the printer to the Freebox with an Ethernet cable

    2) Launch "ML-1630W_Print_64bit.exe" and choose
the second option "Standard installation on network printer"

    3) Stay on "TCP/IP Port" and select SECXXXXXXXXXXXX (printer's IP address).

    4) Click on "IP Address Configuration" and re-select the printer

    5) Click on "Launch SWS" (also known as "SyncThru Web Service")

    6) Go to the "Network Config" tab (3rd from the left)

    7) Go to the "Wireless" tab (second to last from the top)

    8) Click on "Wizard" and select your wifi network

    9) Enter the wifi key and confirm

    10) Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the printer and restart the printer

    11) Complete the driver installation

    12) It works :-)
