Hello,

We have a Canon Pixma TS5150 printer that sometimes fails to print, and we're currently out of options. What is incomprehensible is that it has the paper tray below but the LCD screen displays error code 1000 no paper in the rear receptacle.

If we look for information on Code 1000, the suggested actions to potentially resolve the issue always apply to a paper tray in the back.

Other potential solutions: it's true that the color cartridge is nearly empty; could this be the cause of the problem?

We have tried updating the printer's software and driver, but that hasn't changed anything.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem with this type of printer? Oh, we have Windows 11.

Could you please suggest other possible solutions?

Thank you in advance for your response. Best regards

Hello @jjjjulious StatutMembre

Unplug the printer from the wall outlet
Wait a few minutes
Plug the printer back in
Turn on the printer and see if the error code is still there.

Hello Billmaxime,

Thanks for the reply but we've already seen those videos, and we've checked the paper loading in the tray (the bottom tray and not the back) and apparently everything is correct.

So between the cover and the tray there's the scanner and then the place to change the cartridge; could it be that we need to look at that instead?

I think I’ll check that out when I go see it later.

But are there other avenues to explore?

Thanks for the help and talk to you later.

re

we have checked the paper loading in the cassette (tray below and not behind), but apparently everything is correct.

for error 1000, the following is indicated on the Canon website:

Important

  • Make sure to close the feeder slot cover after loading paper into the rear tray. If the feeder slot cover is open, the printer is not fed with paper.

Note

  • After loading the paper into the rear tray, the screen to set the information on the paper in the rear tray appears. Set the paper information for the rear tray.
  • To cancel printing, press the Stop button on the printer.

Hello, so nothing new or anything to explain the confusion.

Still talking about Rear receptacle when in our case it's not the case!!

This Monday we are going to resume the task... to see if by changing the cartridge

See you tomorrow then, and it's a shame not to have other proposals;

Thanks anyway

Hello again, regarding the code 1000 routes we focused on paper loading but the problem was on the printer properties side. There was a place that allowed choosing between the rear tray and the cassette (the tray below) and surely someone accidentally chose THE REAR TRAY and this happened in 2 places. After switching to CASSETTE the printing issues were resolved!!

So, the matter is settled. If anyone among you has had the same problem...

Until next time and thanks for the help

Hello,

It wasn't my printer, and all I remember is that I had to go through the various windows of PRINTER PROPERTIES (or Print Options) and find the option PAPER FEED and there I had to make sure that in the dropdown list, REAR TRAY wasn't selected, but rather CASSETTE or something like that (for the lower tray). And the problem was solved. I hope this will help you too.

As I explained all this up HERE
