Acronis 2020 Startup Key

Hello,
Hello
on W10, with Acronis 2020, I created a bootable media using Acronis's built-in tool (Rescue Media Builder)
During the process, I encountered the following error message: "the media could not be created"
I formatted the USB stick from FAT32 to NTFS and everything worked.
Is this normal?
If so, how can I be sure that my USB stick will work when the time comes, or do you have a 100% reliable method?

Hello,
If so, how can I be sure that my key will work on the day? Or do you have a method that is 100% reliable? The most reliable way is to test it right away...
After that, if the recovery medium was created correctly, there shouldn't be any problems afterward.
Thank you for the response.
My computer just got back from the repair shop after a Windows crash.
I’m not used to using this kind of key and I’m afraid of making a mistake during the trial...

The best option is to create a system image on an external hard drive.

Hello,
There is no reason why your Acronis key shouldn't work.
My Acronis key is in FAT32.

One of the problems you might encounter is that Acronis does not detect your partitions.
I had this issue with Bitlocker, which I mentioned on the forum recently.
Start the trial to see if your partitions are detected; you can stop at any time before making the backup.
If you encounter a block, press and hold the Power button on the PC for 15 seconds and remove the Acronis key.
Then restart the PC normally.
@MPMP10
I have visited the Malekal site several times, but I had overlooked this particular page, very useful!
For the system image, it's already created with Acronis and it is set up to update the backup every 2 days (on a 1 Terabyte SSD hard drive).
@pistouri
Thank you for the tip about the forced shutdown for 15 seconds.
I checked the properties of the drive, the file system is indeed FAT32.
@mike-alpha
I guess you only had one USB stick given its capacity.
A stick of about 60 Go.
A 8 Go stick is enough. (16 Go to be safe).
I did a comparison with your Acronis stick and a blank 16 Go stick on my side.
The name of the stick does not appear in Volume on your side, nor the FAT32 (File system).
I don't know if your stick will be detected; without the name of the stick, it seems strange.

I compared your Acronis stick with my Acronis stick.

If you can remake the Acronis stick with an 8 Go stick (10 euros).
And compare again.
That would be ideal.

Or remake your Acronis stick with your USB stick of about 60 Go and select the same settings as my Acronis stick.
Keep your 60 Go stick; it will be useful for something else.

Nice to have made the comparisons!
I confirm that I didn't have a smaller key available at that moment.
I just ordered 2 more 16 gig keys at a lower price, which I will receive on Thursday.
Indeed, there are things that are not clear in this key creation.
I will take the liberty of sending you a PM, if you don't mind, when I think everything is good on my end and to compare once again.
I'm really glad to have found someone who has Acronis, like me!
The important thing is that I was able to implement my backups with this software that I am very satisfied with.
Recreate the Acronis key, in about 5 to 10 minutes.
I don't remember if Acronis requires formatting the USB key, check carefully and note it in your next message (I believe Acronis does).
Then test it, no need to make an immediate backup, just check if the partitions are detected, and when I make the backup, I select all the partitions, especially the recovery partition.
On one of my PCs (new Asus laptop) Acronis did not work.
I had to turn to another solution that I do not regret.
I made a Rescuezilla backup USB key just like Acronis would, which is very simple with Ventoy that is even easier (Select MBR for old PCs, or UEFI for recent PCs, just put the ISO on the USB key.
And the USB key is detected immediately (once secure boot is disabled in the BIOS)

It's nearly the same duration to make the backup.
If it didn't work as I mentioned in an earlier post, it's because of Bitlocker.

No worries about a private message, but help is provided on the forum (Charter).

Good news!
I was able to format an 8 gig USB key that I had MP3s on, in the car.
After checking that the file system was indeed in FAT32 and that it was properly formatted in FAT32.
I tried creating the bootable USB key again and everything went smoothly!
If it didn't work with the previous one, it's because it was too large and it wasn't formatted in FAT32. (This one was brand new, though)
For your information, when creating this recovery media, you have the choice between two methods ("simple" or "advanced")
In my case, I chose: "simple".
Hello mike-alpha,
Your Acronis USB key has been created in Fat32.
This time, it is fully operational.
Now all that's left is to make a backup.
Thanks for the info --► ("simple" or "advanced").
The disaster:
After trying the Windows Backup tool several times, I kept getting an error each time; their backup is a disaster, so I turned to Acronis.
The Windows backup from Microsoft is not up to par, and it's much faster with Acronis.
What did you do with your mp3s in the car? Did you back them up on another USB key or delete them?
@+
Yes, I think that this time, all the conditions are right to start my Windows.
But which of the two modes did you choose?
(if it's the "advanced" mode, can you tell me the steps up to the point where creation begins?)
For the configuration of my backups, I was inspired by Cédric's video, a very knowledgeable guy who has made a lot of very useful videos on computing, including this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAbcDHHUVgo
P.S.: for the mp3s, I did exactly as you said: a few deletions, then everything on the same USB stick.
I didn't have the "simple" or "advanced" option when I created my Acronis USB.
That must be recent.
It's Acronis 2019 that I created, but I also have Acronis 2017 in USB and DVD.
Nice video.
I uninstalled Acronis on the PC; once the key was created, I only use the Acronis USB drive, and not just for my PC (friends, family, neighbors).
Okay for the MP3s.
