Beep at startup with black screen

Question

Hello,

I'm writing to you about my little problem:
I put together a friend's PC, and upon startup, it keeps beeping.
It makes a series of 2 short beeps continuously. I have an Award BIOS, and I couldn't identify this error message.

However, I think I have everything connected correctly.
My memory stick is good, the video card is fine too, and the power supply is working, as I have power to the CPU fan and the external fan.
I can't access the BIOS since I have no image on my screen. The LED lights on my keyboard come on for 1 second, then nothing.
I've tried almost everything. Starting without a hard drive and without peripherals...
I have an ASUS P4B533 motherboard. I went through the entire motherboard manual in English, and after 5 hours of searching various forums, I found the English version ;)
All of this to say that I'm at my wits' end. I would greatly appreciate your help.
Is my motherboard defective?

read the following:

"Sound codes for AWARD BIOS cards

At the time of the PC startup and in case of an error, the AWARD BIOS emits a series of sound codes indicating the source of the problem: in any case, this prevents the PC from starting, or even displaying the initial screen. Here are the brief explanations related to these error codes:
• 1 short beep. The BIOS has detected that everything is fine.
• 2 short beeps. The error, which is not serious, is indicated on the screen;
refer to the BIOS error messages.
• 3 short beeps. The error comes from the keyboard controller. You
need to change either the motherboard circuit or the keyboard.
First try the latter solution; if not, contact
customer service. "

I didn't write the error messages for you; there are too many.
The issue is that you should indeed have an error message on your monitor (2 beeps, right?).
The problem may therefore come from your screen.
Check if it is plugged in... Murphy's law!!
Check if it is properly connected to your tower.

Hey, look, it might be your RAM because mine was also beeping continuously, and actually it was because my RAM wasn't seated properly, even though I had done everything right, I had put it in well...

I am also experiencing the same issue with continuous and successive beeps at startup with the same motherboard P4B533.
If the problem is resolved, what was the cause? Thank you for the response? As for me, I suspect a contact issue with the graphics card.

It's about whether it's coming from your RAM sticks (possibly ROM, but that's very rare) It's that none of your sticks are connected properly or that they are faulty.

Have you cleaned inside the tower? Maybe it could come from the physical memory or a graphics card not connected properly. I'm not sure!!!!!!

Hi, I experienced the same thing, I had misinserted the RAM stick, in the end =>  Short circuit => burnt motherboard => everything to buy again, so frustrating XD

Good evening,
I have experienced the black screen at startup 3 or 4 times with 2 or 3 rapid and successive beeps instead of the usual 1.
My solution has been to turn off the CPU using the power button at the back, and then the boot proceeds normally. But I'm not sure if that will last; what do you advise me to do to prevent my PC from breaking down?

I've had the same problem for a week. My motherboard's BIOS battery change solved the issue for 4 weeks. Now, when the PC is off for more than 2 days, I have to take out the BIOS battery and put it back in, and then it works!!!
I haven't found the root of the problem in my case, possibly a dead electronic component.
However, I think in your case, changing the BIOS battery will be enough.

My computer starts up normally; it beeps once to indicate that it’s booting up, but as soon as it says "Welcome," it beeps three times.

Simple answer: I just posted the same question on another forum, CCM, and mysteriously, after doing a couple of tweaks, everything works again:
In the past, we used to say the problem was due to Flash Player, uncheck "hardware acceleration" ...
We don't bother figuring it out anymore ...
Another guy brought up this possibility earlier:
_Start menu
_Device managers
_IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
I laughed and tried anyway:
_press the + or triangle next to it and then select the controller that shows at the bottom:
_right-click, uninstall.
The computer should then restart.
That's when it tells me to detect a failure:
Click on:
_Troubleshoot:
_Choose "Refresh" in Windows 8.
It works again.
Well, either it needed that damn driver to be changed, or simply "refreshing" the PC, which seems simpler and more logical. Or both.
Otherwise, I wish you a good day. For other Windows versions, see how to refresh the PC the old-fashioned way. There are two methods for that. Good luck.

"Refresh": this means to bring Windows up to date (change everything) without deleting personal files, to be clearer. Quite easy actually. Windows and its components are restored to their original state.

I confirm, it works perfectly after several tries, the beep has disappeared, and the general slowdowns as well: one must consider that the computer has reduced and regressive stability concerning its software: it is subject to change, so it needs a little polishing from time to time, especially on Windows 8, which seems very unstable. Even playback of large format videos no longer encounters slowdowns. Resolved. Thanks to CCM
