Hello,
I have performed all the recommended actions to resolve an issue with the spooler that keeps stopping: clearing the PRINTER folder from the spool, running FixPrints (operation completed), starting SFC /SCANNOW which completed a successful repair,
Here’s what I get when I try to print a document in Notepad for example, a message asking me to install a printer even though I have several listed:
and if I try to open the printer properties, a message says that the local print spooler service is not running:
Curiously, the problem appeared after changing a toner in an HP printer
Thank you for your help. I cannot see the screenshots inserted above...
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 95.0.4638.54

Hello,
Bis repetita.
It could be that the latest Windows Update is messing up once again.
After installing KB5005611 for Windows 10, problems have arisen with certain network printers.
This issue was supposed to be resolved with KB5006670.
However, after installing KB5006670, some people are experiencing the issue again where network printers do not work.
Workarounds.
Win32spl.dll (version 19041.1237)
Copy Win32spl.dll into System32.
Download the file ==► old version of Win32spl.dll
Double-click to extract
Or use 7-Zip
Then go to This PC -►Local Disk (C)-►Windows-►System32
Copy and paste --►Win32spl.dll
Confirm the replacement of the Win32spl.dll file
Try printing, you may need to restart your PC.
Update.
Uninstall the update KB5006670
In the search box on the taskbar type --► cmd
Right-click on --►Command Prompt
Then --►Run as administrator
Copy/paste --► wusa /uninstall /kb:5006670
Then -►Press the Enter key
Close the command prompt window or type exit
Restart the PC
Try printing.

It's a new problem that arises at the wrong time.
Modify permissions to become the owner
the file win32spl.dll --► How to change the access rights of a file or folder in Windows?
And certainly the folder System32
Method #2: Replace the Win32spl.dll file
Source
Method #3: Reconfigure the printer on the print server
It's a bit simpler to do
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create a restore point.
If it's too complicated, do a system restore.
Look carefully at the available points.
==► Restore Windows from a restore point
I assume the culprit is an update, but I'm not 100% sure.

Method #2: Replace the Win32spl.dll file
On another PC, I retrieved the famous win32spl.dll older version.
I went to the system32 folder of Windows and had to modify the permissions to become the owner (even as an administrator, the folder was protected). Then I changed the permissions of the win32spl file to grant the ability to modify. Then the replacement was still not possible because this file launches at the same time as Windows.
Finally, I rebooted in safe mode and replaced the new file with the old one, it worked and I found my network printer.

For some users, there is another method that worked: delete the printer from the print server and add it again. This will recreate a new print queue, and apparently resolve the issue.

Ideas :
As the comments show, you have several malfunctions.
For example, it is not normal not to see the printer properties.
And your daughter's Administrator account leaves me dumbfounded.
Was the purchased PC a display model?
Or something else?

You can always restore your backup while waiting for something better.
The problem was already present.
So this backup is useless except for restoring the PC.
Which backup software was it? (For info)
If the PC is on a Microsoft account, switch to a local account

Then test the printer.

Thank you, I too am astonished by all the malfunctions
I created an administrator account but it doesn’t work any better, impossible to change the permissions.
The PC was purchased from a store, I will try to find out where;
I will follow the Malekai method to repair
I had done a system restore through the control panel

It's useless to know where you bought it.
It's just a user account Administrator.
You would need a Microsoft Admin account; with that, there's nothing to fear when reinstalling Windows 10 (even if you switch to a local account afterward).
The license key will not be requested from you.
Or you can ignore it during installation.
And that's where I want to get at.
When all the tried solutions are in vain!
Of course, it grinds your gears, but you start over on good foundations.
If the reset does not yield anything, you'll have to resort to reinstallation.
If you haven't done so, create a Microsoft account for your daughter.

System Restore,
For system restore, it's useless since you started with a disk image.
It's very foresighted, but in your case, it's a lost cause (Forget the backup).
The procedure to reinstall W10
==► How to install Windows 10 with a USB key
From what I read, you should be able to do it with a clear mind.
By the way, have you checked if the PC is compatible with W11?
It's in Windows Update.
I don't think so; you would have mentioned it.
In any case, you must see the message.. Your PC is not compatible with W11
Or the opposite!
See you later!

Yes, I have several decades of computer experience behind me, but not with Microsoft. I have worked in network development for a manufacturer and I started before the Internet...
I understand that I need to create a Microsoft account, try copying that infamous file into system32 with this account, attempt a reset (how?), and reinstall as a last resort. But this PC is a work tool, and I don't feel like taking the risk when, for the moment, only printing does not work. Moreover, this PC runs like a bullet: it starts and shuts down in a few seconds, which is not at all the case with the other computers in the family...
Yes, this PC is not compatible with W11, I will try tomorrow the analysis proposed next to the message saying so.
Thank you.

Hello,
What is the model of your HP printer?
Is there an error message on this device?

The problem occurred yesterday on my daughter's laptop. I went over to try and fix it, and there were no messages on the HP printer with toner, the model of which I can't recall. I then brought her laptop back to my place, and the problem occurs on my Canon inkjet printer as well as on all the printers configured on her laptop (Canon TS8230, HP, PDF, Print to PDF, OneDrive, etc.). As mentioned, I have followed all the suggestions I found in forums and here on CCM without resolving the issue.
It should be noted that in the services display, the spooler may be marked as running while the left column indicates "Start" instead of Stop. It should also be noted that the scanners of my Canon printer and the HP are accessible and available in Settings.
Finally, all real or virtual printers are accessible and usable from other computers.

Hello, the printer that seemingly caused the problem during the toner change is a HP Color LaserJet MFP M281 fdw, but the issue I'm encountering occurs with all defined printers.
I have another symptom when trying to access the printers: an error code 0x000006ba. The only fix found in the forums for this error would be to reinstall Windows 10. I don't know how to do that, and I think it will create new problems.
Would replacing the two files spoolss.dll and spoolsv.exe be a solution?
If so, how can I do this safely?
Thank you for your help, I spent hours yesterday looking for a fix without finding anything other than replacing Windows.

I tried to uninstall KB5006670 which is listed in the installed updates but:

-in Windows settings it is not listed in the "Uninstall an update" window although it appears in the history.
What a hassle!
I will try the first method.

I can't replace the win32spl.dll file. In all my attempts to gain permission, functions are missing or displayed in light grey and cannot be clicked. I don’t know what to do to gain administrator rights after unsuccessfully trying all your suggestions and conducting fruitless searches on the Net.
I'll get back to it tomorrow because I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Once again, thank you very much for your invaluable help.

I do not have access to the printer properties:
- using the method above, the "printer properties" line does not appear
- using Settings and then Devices, I end up with the box "Cannot display printer properties."
And the troubleshooter detects nothing on any of the printers.
I will go back to battling to try to restore the old version of win32spl.dll.
