Error: Windows couldn't complete the installation! Solved

Question

Hello,
Yesterday, while trying to upgrade my Dell Precision M4600 from the 32-bit version to the 64-bit version, I encountered an error message. Everything went well at the beginning; I deleted everything on my hard drives, created a primary partition of 60GB to install Windows 7, but at the end of the installation, I received the error message "Windows could not complete the installation." When I clicked OK, the PC restarted and I got the same error message again.
I would need your help.

Problem solved by changing the SATA configuration from RAID On to AHCI in the BIOS menu (by pressing Delete at startup). Thank you for your help Tanteelise.

I will explain precisely what happened to me:

So last night, I decided to format my PC; Dell Precision M4600, to update it to the 64-bit Windows version.
At first everything went well, I followed all the steps carefully, formatted the hard drive, etc. I started installing Windows, it restarted, and then when it reached the 'final installation' phase, I got a nice error message saying "Windows could not complete the installation, etc."
At first, I thought it was a burning issue, so I re-burned the Windows 7 image onto another DVD, went through the process again, and still got the same error message.
I downloaded another version of 64-bit Windows (Home version), reinstalled it, still the same problem.
Finally, I decided to create a bootable USB flash drive, but the PC does not recognize it.
I read on some forums that some people were able to resolve this problem by spamming the F10 or Alt+F10 button during startup, but this obviously didn't work for me. :|
Please help me!

Hello,

try this:

1 Turn on the computer.

2 When the computer restarts, press the <F8> key on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

Note:
You must press the <F8> key before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press <F8> after the Windows logo appears on the screen, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear. If the Advanced Boot Options menu does not display, restart the computer, then repeat the procedure until the menu appears on the screen.

3 Press the <Down Arrow> key on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer from the Advanced Boot Options menu, then press the <Enter> key.

4 Specify your preferred language settings, then click Next.

5 Log in as a user with administrative rights, then click OK.

6 Click on Dell Factory Image Restore.

7 In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click on Next.

8 Check the box Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.

The installation of Windows did not finish, you absolutely need to reinstall it, but it seems that the recovery partition is no longer present.

Is it a laptop?

Hello,

To have the "Repair your computer" option in the "Advanced options" menu, you need to have the Windows 7 installation CD in the DVD drive, restart the installation, select the language, and then the menu will display "Install" at the bottom of the page and "Repair."

If the repair option doesn't work, you need to go into the PC's BIOS to change and try the different SATA options of the hard drive and reinstall W7. For my part, on the DELL E6400, I switched from "IRTT" mode to "AHCI" mode.

Regarding this problem that occurs for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008... there are two solutions: the first and simplest one is to download the appropriate driver for your hard disk drive for Dell Precision M4600, see this link http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/en/en/frbsdt1/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=4HM0V&osCode=ww1&fileId=3098288999&languageCode=en&categoryId=SA
then save the driver on a USB flash drive, during the installation of Windows 7 you load the driver and everything will be perfect.

I had the same problem, the solution is:
1-download the hard drive driver link: Intel Rapid Storage 64-bit or 32-bit

2-extract the .exe file into a folder
3-copy it to a USB drive
4-in the disk partitioning tab, click load driver and browse to the USB drive
5-choose the driver folder
6-continue the Windows 7 installation
