Hello everyone,
I'm new to Illustrator and I have a little issue that I can't seem to find a solution for, although it's probably very simple.
I want to use the clipping mask function on an open path. That is to say, I have a lightning bolt shape that is just a stroke without a fill created with the pen tool (image 1), and I want to use the white image behind it as a mask.
Unfortunately, Illustrator doesn't want to do it from the path, but it closes the shape and takes the fill for the clipping, which is not at all what I want.
Is there a way to create a clipping mask on an open stroke and not on the fill?
Thank you,

Hello Slipopoulez,
It is not possible to create a clipping mask with a path.
To achieve your goal, you have no choice but to convert your path into a shape.
It's very simple, you select your lightning bolt and then go to the top tab "object --> path --> outline stroke". Now you have a shape that can serve as a mask.
