Windows installation failed error 0x8007045D

Hello everyone,
I have an Asus X5DI laptop on which I would like to install Windows 10. Originally, this computer was running Windows 7 with a conventional hard drive, but Windows no longer booted on it (the logo appeared, but the OS wouldn't start, causing the computer to run indefinitely before crashing).

I tested the HDD on my desktop, and it works (I was able to recover my data). I took advantage of this failure to replace the HDD with an SSD (Crucial MX500, 250GB), and I wanted to install Windows 10 on it. I created a bootable USB drive using the latest version of the Media Creation Tool (downloaded from the Microsoft website), with technically the correct version (i.e., 64-bit).

When booting the laptop from the USB drive, the installation program launches perfectly, and the SSD appears, so far so good. However, after a certain period during the installation, an error code appears (0x8007045D) telling me that necessary files for the installation are missing. I recreated my USB drive just in case, but the problem persists.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Good evening,

Try changing the USB port to another location

Change your USB stick, it may be defective

Check the status of your SSD

And keep your fingers crossed

I already tried changing the USB port but without success. I regularly use this USB drive for my Windows installations.
I will try tomorrow with another USB drive, and the SSD itself is new (but you can never be too careful about a defect).

Yes, even a new SSD can cause problems
If you have another USB stick, try it anyway

And do a test to check the memory sticks.

Well, the mem test didn't show anything, the RAM sticks seem fine. I made another bootable USB drive, and this time the installation continued up to 80% of the file preparation (compared to 20% before) before canceling due to the same error.

I will try to connect the SSD to another computer and do the installation from there.

To check the integrity of the SSD, do you have any software you would recommend?

To test your SSD
Crystal Disk info

I hope you didn't copy the ISO from your USB drive to another USB drive because if your ISO file contained errors, you'll redo a format for nothing

You need to recreate your USB drive from the latest version of Media Creation Tool

When you start your installation, unplug all the other hard drives and only leave the SSD connected

Thank you for the software, I'll keep it aside for other drives just in case.
No, I have recreated a key with the latest version of the media creation tool.
The PC in question has only one hard drive slot.

I just put the SSD on another computer to test the installation and it was done very quickly and smoothly. The problem is therefore likely with the target PC. I will now reconnect the SSD with Windows installed to the target PC and we'll see if it works.
