Hello,
I don't have much knowledge in computing and I would like to solve a little issue.
A message appears in the bottom right corner when I start the PC (W7 Home Premium edition): your password will expire in 4 days. I would like to point out that there is no password for starting Windows.
I have already done some research and I tried WR then control userpasswords2 - administrator name - advanced options - advanced management - advanced - and there a box opens with a red cross and a message "Local users and groups. This computer is running W7 HP. This snap-in cannot be used with this version of W..." If I go to the control panel - user accounts - I only have the following choices: create a password - change picture - change account name - change account type - manage another account - change User Account Control settings.
I really don't know how to disable this password expiration and I know even less why and how this appears.
If someone has a little time to help me, I would be delighted.
Thank you all and have a nice week

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 85.0.4183.121

    Hello,
"THIS PC", right-click, properties, is Windows activated? If so, no worries, ignore the messages!

      Hello Quentin2121
Thanks for the info. I went to Computer, right-clicked, properties, and in Windows Activation (just above the product ID) I can see that Windows is indeed activated!
      Have a nice day

    Hello
when windows is activated the password cannot expire, the password to protect access to the pc is meant to prevent use by a third party

it's about another program where you forgot to pay the annual fee

      Hello Redbart
Thanks for the info. Yes, Windows is indeed activated. As for a program where I might have forgotten to pay the annual subscription... I don't know what you're referring to. This PC (retrieved from an elderly lady) is almost clean and doesn't contain any specific programs (besides Skype which has been disabled).
      Have a nice day.

      Hello Malekal
Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, this PC is running Windows 7!

I typed secpol.msc and a window opened saying, "Windows cannot find secpol.msc"
I typed net users and my username. A small window appears for a fraction of a second and disappears
I typed net accounts /maxpwage:00. A small window appears for a fraction of a second and disappears.
I turned the PC off and back on, and the expiration message is still there.

      Too bad!
Thank you and have a nice day.

Good luck, you'll see what happens for a "possible" program on October 4th! Have a good evening ;)

open a command prompt as an administrator

The following command in the command prompt:
        net user username

        (replace username with yours)
allows you to display your user information and expiration date.

        Hello Malekal
Thank you for the reply. I opened the command prompt by pressing the Windows+R keys. I typed net user +my name (yesterday I typed net users in plural) but the problem is the same: a small window appears for a split second and then disappears.
As I mentioned to Redbart: I don’t have any knowledge in IT and even the smallest thing becomes complicated for someone inexperienced...!
Thank you and have a great weekend.

    Hello Redbart
Thank you for the tip. I have listed (and saved on a USB drive) the software. There are 61 programs installed, but since I don't have any knowledge of computers, I don't know what is necessary and useful or what is unnecessary and does nothing or could cause problems...!
Even the smallest thing is complicated when you are ignorant and inexperienced.
Thank you for the feedback and have a great weekend.

    Hello everyone
Indeed, the password expired on the scheduled date, and it was no longer possible to open the Windows session (...??). I had to create a password even though (see my message from the 03rd) there wasn't one (...??). I turned off the PC, turned it back on (with the created password), and I deleted that password in the control panel. This computer is only used for Hotmail and Gmail messaging, Windows Solitaire and Spider Solitaire, a classic Mahjong, and to consult a few articles and short videos (no downloading of interactive games or anything else, nor movies, nor large files). There is no password because an elderly person sometimes uses it. As for the list of 61 programs (which I saved on a USB drive), I don’t know how to send it to you. Perhaps there is something causing a problem!
Thank you all for your advice.
    Have a nice day.
