Hello everyone, here is my problem,

I wanted to move my hard drive with Windows and all my years of work from my old Lenovo laptop to another brand, and Windows is not recognized... is there a way to avoid reinstalling my entire hard drive while keeping the current one? It seems Lenovo prevents cloning Windows to another brand...

    Hello,

Moving a hard drive from one PC to another can sometimes work, by luck or because it’s a neighboring PC, but most of the time it fails.

I imagine before you embark on this kind of manipulation you have backed up everything you want to keep that is on the drive?

You could try booting from a Windows ISO on a USB drive (the same level, Windows 10?) and running a repair; this might fix the installation on the new PC. But the drive might not work on the new PC and will likely work on the old one.

A fresh reinstall remains the best solution.

well, I suspected as much... but I hoped I wouldn't have to reinstall an entire system that I spent a lot of time hand-tuning..

      thanks

ah but I think I’m going to try your solution with a clone of my original hard drive... that way I won’t risk losing my data..
