Hello,
I have a Canon Pixma 395 printer. I replaced the cartridges with the correct models, but in XL: CL541 XL and PG540 XL. Does this difference explain the error code 1485 that is displaying? Does it mean that the XL cartridges are not compatible?
Thank you for your response.
Best regards,
B. Majois

Hello,
Start by checking if your printer is compatible...

Hello,
it must be something else, yet the error code is indeed: incompatible cartridge.
Clean the contacts and do a reset.
Standard ink cartridges
2 FINE cartridges:
Black: PG-540
Color: CL-541
Optional ink cartridges
High yield XL cartridges:
Black: PG-540XL
Color: CL-541XL

Doing a reset:
Reset from the printer
When the cartridges are first installed, the color and black cartridge lights may come on or blink. At this moment, if you try to print or copy, the printer will not work.
Press and hold the STOP / RESET button for at least 5 seconds.
After releasing the button, you may hear a sound indicating that the machine is resetting. The machine may print a blank page at this point.
You can copy or print now. The color and black cartridge lights may continue to be on or blink, but this will not affect your machine's function. Ignore the lights.
Reset from the computer
After the first installation of the cartridges, when you try to print from your computer, the following message will first appear: "cartridge not recognized." It is the same message when you install OEM original cartridges.
Click OK. The printer will try to print, then the following message will appear: "cannot print."
Click "Cancel printing" for the moment.
Press and hold the STOP / RESET button for at least 5 seconds.
After releasing the button, you may hear a sound indicating that the machine is resetting. The machine may print a blank page at this point.
You can continue to try printing again. The printer should work. The color and black cartridge lights may continue to be on or blink, but this will not affect your machine's function. Ignore the lights.
