On English blogs, I found a solution that allowed me to resolve this issue in my case: cleaning underneath the transparent plate. The problem stemmed from the fact that when the plate is not perfectly clean, the scanner's reading head cannot position itself when the printer is turned on. Hello, I have the same problem with a Photosmart C4280 for the past 15 days. Every time I turn it on, it asks me to do a page alignment scan and then it fails to align. At that point, it only reluctantly allows copying or printing, which results in a huge waste of paper and time each time. I have cleaned the print heads, tried various tweaks, changed the outlet, etc., but nothing works. Can the alignment be bypassed from the computer? Another solution if it still doesn't work: disassemble the scanner glass and clean the scanner mirrors, especially the ones underneath (cotton swab + glass cleaner). Dust prevents the scanner from functioning normally, hence the recurring page alignment issue.
