Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to a remote server on SQL Server 2000. I have disabled the firewall on this server to better identify the cause of the problem, but the issue persists, and I am unable to connect to this server.

I am able to connect to other SQL Server servers on different remote machines, except for this one that I just put into production. I’ve been going around in circles on this issue for the past two days.

Here is the error message:

Please help me.

Sincerely.

In continuing the research, I realize that port 1433 is not listening on the remote server. I verified it with the command:

netstat /an in the command prompt.

Yet, port 1433 is indeed enabled in SQL Server 2000. How can I make this port listen on the remote server?

    Best regards.
