Locked keyboard: how to unlock it?
Solved/ClosedScaredHell973 -
Hello,
Since yesterday, I can't use the keyboard anymore. I think it's locked but I can't unlock it (I have an HP Envy x2 PC/tablet). I'm looking for help to find out how to unlock the keyboard so I can write again.
When I click on the Shift key on the on-screen keyboard, the Shift key light on the physical keyboard turns on, so I think it's working. I'm really wondering why my keyboard is disabled this way, probably on a software level?
I have unchecked all the boxes in the "make the keyboard easier to use" section, I have pressed and held the right Shift key for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, and more, I have pressed it several times in a row... but still no success. I tried a system restore, no change either.
I'm out of ideas, does anyone have another solution to suggest for unlocking the keyboard keys?

Hello,
The quickest solution is almost always the same: press and hold the right Shift key for 8 seconds. You should hear a beep confirming that everything is unlocked.
On a laptop, if that’s not enough, also try the Fn key + Num Lock key. One of those should save you!
If not, you can also try going to the control panel then accessibility (or Ease of Access / Keyboard). Then uncheck: Filter Keys and Sticky Keys.
Also, check out this post:
And regarding the links, I saw the second one, and as I mentioned in my first post, the Shift key doesn't change anything, and the same goes for the checkboxes.
The first link concerns the touchpad; I don't have a problem with it, it works fine, it's just the keyboard.
thank you very much, I accidentally managed to lock my keyboard while watching SAO. I was so scared lol
well thanks for that, your advice is saved in my screenshots
