Hello everyone, I'm reaching out to the community.

I recently purchased a Samsung 3D smart LED TV model UE46F6400.

Everything is perfect... except:

When I connect my DVD player (Essentiel B from Boulanger) to my TV.

When I watch a DivX file, the picture is perfect but there is no sound.

I've tested a lot of things to try to figure out where the problem lies. Here’s the summary.

- Playing a DivX... no sound
- Playing a DVD... no sound
- Changing HDMI port on my TV... no sound
- Changing HDMI cable... no sound
- Trying different settings in my TV options... no sound
- Trying different settings in my DVD player options... no sound

- I then connected a Scart cable from the DVD player to the TV... Hooray sound!!!! but terrible picture

- Then I connected the same DVD player with the same HDMI cable to another TV... sound!!

- I put the DivX on an external hard drive that I connected to the TV via USB... sound!!!!!

But I still can't get sound via HDMI.

If anyone has experienced this problem and can shed some light on my issue...

Thanks to all.

Hello,

An HDMI cable is solely dedicated to the video signal, so only the image passes through this cable, not the audio. Therefore, it is normal that you do not have sound.

To get sound, you need to add another cable. This cable is called RCA cable (or Cinch, it's the same thing). It's a cable with two male plugs (one with a red ring, the other with a white ring) on each side.

It's easy to connect! Plug one end of the cable into the audio OUT of your DVD player, and the other end into the audio IN of your TV.

And since when is the audio signal not transmitted via HDMI connectivity???

Another one who thinks he knows it all!!!

As far as I know, when you connect a simple DVD player via HDMI to a TV, the TV indeed outputs both the image AND the sound without needing to plug in another cable!!!

This response is truly nonsense, but you had to dare...

Hi Gudul,

There’s no need for a class for that, just make your brain and fingers work on the keyboard, Google is everyone’s friend for online searches!!!

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Definition_Multimedia_Interface, I'm not saying that Wikipedia is the gospel truth, but they’re more often than not right.

You just need to read the very first line and the answer is already there:

" The High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a completely digital audio/video standard and interface... "

And so on...
