Password issue money

Solved

Hello,

I changed my password in my MSN account and since then, it's impossible to open Money 2005, which does not recognize this new password.
I downloaded a patch from Microsoft to update it, thinking it would allow me to access Money again, but I can't install the patch; the message says, "the autorun file is missing or corrupted."
I would like to have a link to install this patch that seems to resolve the issues, or does anyone have a solution to open Money with the new password I set in my MSN passport?
Thank you all.

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello;

Do you have the installation CD for MsMoney? If so, the solution may be to properly and completely uninstall the software (Registry and hidden files) after making sure to backup the latest update of your accounting on a removable media (USB stick, CD/RW, or external hard drive) and then perform a new installation with the addition of the update patch to download HERE and follow the installation instructions
If after installation the error message regarding the password reappears (Try with the old password), there isn't much that can be done

Thank you for kindly letting us know if your problem is resolved by activating this function in the designated space
Best regards and A+

Hello,
Thank you for your message.
The problem is that I changed my password in MSN and Money doesn't recognize it (well done Microsoft).
I have the installation CD for Money 2005.
I have already done a clean uninstall and reinstall of the software.
I created a new account without going through the MSN Passport, so without a password.
I was only able to recover a small part of my bank account (only 2 months) instead of the 5 years that are saved on an external storage in an mbf file.
If I try to recover a backup from this new installation, it asks me for the password again. It seems that the recovery file has the password.
I tried with the new password and the old one, but it's impossible.
I have already downloaded the patch that is in the link you provided, but when I launch the install.exe in the MoneyPatch directory, it tells me "the autorun.inf file is missing or damaged," so it's not possible to apply the patch.
If you have a solution, I’m all ears.

I need to convert my mbf file to qif or csv using software to try to recover it in another software (or in Money), but I can't find any conversion software, and the other free banking software doesn't open proprietary mbf files (or I just don't know about such software).

I'm open to any solutions to try to recover my 5 years of account.
Thank you.

Hello;

When you installed the update patch, did you follow the procedure as indicated >> Extract or unzip the patch to the existing installation of MsMoney on the machine and run the instal.exe once this patch is installed in the Microsoft Money subfolder (Money Patch)
See this screenshot

Yes, I followed the procedure, I unzipped the zip file in the money directory. It created a moneypatch folder.
Inside that, I clicked on install.exe and I received the given message.
I don’t understand what happened.

I think the initial installation of MsMoney encountered a problem >> I suggest you do a complete uninstallation of MsMoney using Revo Uninstaller (HERE) then open the registry and browse the Hkey-Current-User and Hkey-Local-Machine keys >> Microsoft >> Delete Money
Open Windows hidden files >> Browse the folders and delete Money if found
Restart the machine and perform an installation from the CD in Windows XP mode, reinstall the patch and launch MsMoney from the last backup
See you later

Thank you for your advice. I'm looking into it today and I'm going to do the manipulation especially since I have Rêvo uninstaller installed.

I uninstalled Money, cleaned the registry as you told me.
I still find a "residue" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER (photo).
I don't think it should be deleted, right?

Hello;

Don't delete this key
For your information, this morning I completely uninstalled MsMoney (on Windows 7), making sure to check if my backup on CD/RW was valid before >> I then reinstalled MsMoney from my CD, followed by the patch I used as follows >> By downloading it from the link mentioned earlier, which I extracted not to c:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2005 but directly to the desktop. Then I dragged this folder into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2005, opened this folder, and launched the Install.exe file >> I launched MsMoney, and in the top left, there is a File tab that I clicked >> Open >> search for the path where the backup is located >> File type: Set to All and click on the name of the backup and finally open and a window opens >> Restore etc.... And I recovered my last backup without any problem

Hello,
Thank you for your message.
New problem, when I install the money CD, it no longer launches on its own. Well, no problem, I open the explorer to access the files on the CD-ROM, I click on install.exe and nothing happens.
I try using the run as function and there I put administrator and nothing happens.
I tried installing the CD on a laptop, and there I can launch it by clicking on install.exe in the explorer.
Do you have any idea what’s going on?
Thanks for your help.
I am on XP Pro.

Here we go, sorry, I managed to install it by directly running an install exe in the money folder (I’m using a Works Suite CD-ROM that includes Money).
I will follow your advice to install the patch and see if it works
See you!

Well, thanks for your advice. The patch installed correctly. Money has been updated. I followed exactly your message with the help of your screenshots.
The problem is that I can’t restore my backup, this f*****g Money keeps asking me for a password.
No matter how many times I enter the one I used in MSN, the new one or the old one, nothing works, the message appears that the password is incorrect.
I’m losing my mind (which I don't even have).
If you have another solution, I’m all ears.
Thanks again for your help.

I am looking for a solution and in the meantime, I am sending you the link below which is a FAQ from Microsoft MsMoney translated more or less well but useful and worth browsing >> That's what I'm doing but maybe together we can find the solution faster.

Hello;

Finally some good news and to be honest, I just found this solution on the link I sent you above >> See the link below
http://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=fr&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dautoupdate.dll%2Bmoney%26hl%3Dfr%26biw%3D1173%26bih%3D782%26prmd%3Divnsfd&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=en&u=http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/296.aspx
Don't forget to back up on your external drive and don't use a password anymore, it's always problematic
You can mark this as resolved (and therefore save a lot of money!!)
See you later and maybe soon, and thank you for the compliments
I will mark the topic as resolved
Best regards
