Hello, I have a TomTom Start 20 GPS. I connect to my account, but a box appears in the middle of the page and says "the navigation device connected to your computer is not linked to this account." I don't understand; I can no longer update my maps because of this. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
Have you opened multiple accounts in My tomtom?

Hello, no, I don't think I opened another account. By the way, I am logged in with my existing account, as it says "welcome Mr...." at the top, so my account is indeed active. I even requested to change my password just in case, but once replaced, the same message appears. Some time ago, I was still able to perform my updates.

Delete this account and create a new one.

So there it is, my problem is solved. I did roughly as you told me; I didn't delete my account (for the simple reason that I didn't know how to do it) but I created a new account with my wife's email address and now my device has finally been linked to that address... and I was able to do my updates. But there is still a mystery! Because once logged out, I tried to log back in with my wife's address... and once again that message appeared saying that the device was not linked to this account... and then I managed to link it with my first address! Mystery!!!

My friend Eglander's advice.
- Reset the GPS by pressing the power button without releasing it until the device restarts (reset)
- Connect the device to the computer
- Open Device Manager
- Select Universal Serial Bus controllers
Now you need to see if it’s really the TomTom you’re checking on the controller in question
You need to disconnect it properly and its icon should disappear. When the USB port is detected, you need to reconnect it
Right-click on the device in Device Manager (TomTom or unknown) and then click on "Properties".
Click on Driver
Click on uninstall
- When the driver is uninstalled, you shut down the computer and turn off the GPS. You unplug the GPS and restart the computer
Now you will need to reinstall the drivers
- Connect the GPS to another USB port but definitely not the same one (the device is still off)
- Press the start button until the device restarts.
The computer should then install the new driver.
If there is an error message:
You need to open Device Manager, right-click on the device and choose to install the drivers manually
To find the right driver, go to C:\Program Files\MyTomTom 3\Driver\INF
My TomTom should now recognize the GPS and accept the updates
If it still doesn’t work, you need to contact TomTom support
