Hello,

I am wondering how I should act regarding my friend's bank because it has caused him quite a few problems. Let me explain:

Originally from Guyana where he had an account, he moved to Martinique. Since then, BNP Paribas has taken considerable amounts from him for months (for no reason, I believe). He only has his scholarship, so it's a troubling issue.

Now, we live together in mainland France! And since September, he has never received his scholarship. The reason?? As soon as the amount arrives in his account, BNP takes the money back! That's over 900 euros (just in 3 months!).
His parents called the bank, and it seems that he is charged 35 euros every time he uses his card in an ATM (to check if he has received his scholarship), but he hasn't checked his account 25 times!!!!
In the end, the ATM swallowed his card, so he couldn't continue checking his balance; why do they keep charging him 35 euros?

Also, in Martinique, initially, it didn't happen like this! At least, not at the beginning - it started in January 2011 - Is this normal?????

This is really bothering him a lot, and it bothers me too, by the way.

Could I have some advice or information, please???

Hello..

35€ each time to have the 'privilege' of inserting the card into the ATM seems a bit abusive! What is shown on the bank statement for the 900€ 'disappeared'??... Are they 'justified' (bank charges, withdrawals, etc..)?
You can see the problem with an association, for example, AFUB http://www.afub.org/index.php (Specialized in 'Banking'..) or a generalist association (UFC, CLCV, etc..).
Rather than entrusting my acorns to BNP, I will choose the Bank of Bermuda..
Happy New Year to everyone!
See you!

Thank you for your response. I will look into the associations and especially talk to him about it. Happy New Year!
