Suspicious SMS 38119 - SPAM Erdf? Solved

Question

Hello,

This is the second time in a week that I've received a text message from "38119".

The content is:
"Erdf - The power cut for your electricity installation is scheduled for 20/01 between 08:00 and 17:00. To avoid this action, please contact your provider."

The spelling and punctuation mistakes are original.

The text seems very suspicious to me, aside from the content errors, as I have not subscribed to an Erdf or EDF plan... Have any of you received this type of text message?

I received a text from 38119 from ERDF saying that I was going to have an electrical inspection..... I called EDF... and apparently it's a scam....

I also received two text messages from 38119 EDF saying verbatim: an electricity cut for non-payment is scheduled and imminent. To stop this
intervention, contact your supplier EDF at 0969321515

I researched on Orange (my provider) and it says to respond to this type of text with STOP and it will block messages from these unwanted senders.

Hello everyone!!!
I can confirm something to you, yes ERDF sends messages to people who have made a request for housing solidarity aid, telling them this:

"ERDF has received a request for an electricity cut on 04/16 between 8 AM and 5 PM. To avoid this cut, please regularize your situation with your supplier."

I received this message on 04/13 and today is 04/16 and they came to cut me off this morning at 8:15 AM because I haven’t paid two bills.

So yes, ERDF does send real messages, they are not spam unless your number has been given by someone else and does not correspond to your housing.

I have my husband who works at ERDF and can confirm that as part of a customer service approach, ERDF-GRDF sends SMS messages to customers who do not pay their bills and for whom the suppliers (EDF or GDF, but also all others like POWEO, Direct Energie, etc.) have sent a request for disconnection to ERDF-GRDF (a service common to all suppliers, I remind you). This allows customers to take the necessary steps before an agent comes to disconnect. Moreover, ERDF-GRDF sometimes conducts satisfaction surveys through outbound calls or SMS, always with the goal of improving. You can choose whether or not to respond. Best regards.

I also received one of their messages today from that famous 38119, I called ERDF for nothing... definitely do not call that 38119 back because it’s probably a premium rate number!
Here is the message word for word, letter for letter:

"ERDF. We have received a request for an electricity cut. To avoid this, please regularize your situation with your supplier."

As you can see, the mistakes are glaring!

Hello,

Stop believing that EDF is a kind, innocent company. The number 38119 definitely belongs to EDF or to a company that obtains personal information through EDF.

Several reasons allow me to assert this:
-I called EDF only once in the last 2 years, and on the same day, I received a text from 38119 asking for my satisfaction level following the contact with EDF service (to which I responded with the minimum score of 0).
-The same number 38119 just sent me a text to inform me that the email address ***@*** they had is not valid. Indeed, the email address that EDF has does not exist, as it was registered 5 years ago by an EDF receptionist, apparently autistic, who never managed to understand my wife's name (the holder of our EDF contract). An incorrect piece of information that no EDF receptionist has ever managed to correct for me afterward (incredible, right?).

All this to tell you that the information required by the number 38119 is supposed to be held solely by EDF. Whether it's spam or not, they are directly responsible for the messages you receive from this number.

Personally, all this time I continue to receive the few letters from EDF that miraculously reach my mailbox under the very beautiful name of "farla" and probably some emails to a non-existent email address.
