    Good evening,

    Does ping work both ways?

Are the two PCs in the same workgroup?

    Good evening,

The answer is YES to both questions!

If I get it repaired, Windows did not resolve this issue:
    "clearing the DNS cache"

    If that can help you...
    Thank you

if you took something other than administrator,
      that would be good too.
      password not empty, of course.

    Hello,

    It's quite complicated and strange!
If it doesn't work with Administrator, that's something!
And it would be even more surprising if it works with another account! ...
Anyway, this network issue isn't great.

    Thanks.
    See you later

The problem is that it's a local administrator.
It doesn't necessarily have the same value on the other machine.
      As a general rule,
one should not use the administrator account.
And especially not leave it without a password.

    Hello

You are very kind, brupala, but that doesn't help me get out of this!
I have redone the procedure with 2 accounts with administrator rights, same name, same password, and it still doesn't work!
Is there a site or a book that explains all this clearly?
    Thank you.

Do you have real network shares?
      With the hand underneath?
      If so,
      try connecting by:
      start run \\other's ip\share name
or connect a network drive (it's the same thing).
If not, there is a virus on your PC, check this out:

    Hello,

Try flushing the DNS cache; you need to go to a DOS window (Command Prompt) and type the following command:

    >ipconfig /flushdns

      Good evening,

I spent the weekend setting up this damn network and I haven't gotten to the end, here’s the situation:

      - The 2 PCs are under the same name, same password, and same group.
      - PC1 has Internet directly, and PC2 connects to the Internet through the network (I know how!)
      - The pings are fine
      - The flushdns worked
      BUT
      - While PC1 can see and access shared files from PC2…
      - PC2 can see PC1 BUT cannot access shared files from PC1!!

I’ve consulted everything I could like forums, websites, advice from one, tips from another, NOTHING works!

Can someone here give me another idea?
      Thanks
      Very much
      Daniel

Try to enable ICMP requests and restart the machines.

not possible: did you see the number of those who have the problem: me too (solved)

PC2 sees PC1 BUT cannot access the shared files of PC1!!

someone solved the problem by checking "hide extensions for known file types" in folder options ???????
indeed, for me too PC2 had hidden extensions, but not PC1, but that makes no sense ??????

    seriously:
you have to put "everyone" in local security policy, then other stuff

I have a text file copied and pasted from a lot of stuff found on the forum
I will put it in the next message
    you sort it out

      Hello,

thank you for trying to help me...

      - Hiding the extensions... it doesn’t change anything!
      - Putting "everyone" in the security strategy... I can't, I'm on simple sharing!

I'll study your copy-paste and get back to you...
