Hello,
I connected my Verbatim MEDIASTATION network hard drive to my NETGEAR router-switch.
It is configured in DHCP like my PC.
When I go to my router's web page, I can see that it obtains an IP address (192.168.1.3 in this case).
The ping to this address is successful.
I even upgraded the software managing the network hard drive thanks to this forum
<A HREF="https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-8260852-dd-verbatim-vu-en-sens-unique#q=dd+verbatim+vu+en+sens+unique+&cur=1&url=%2F"> dd-verbatim-vu-en-sens-unique
But nothing works :-( : my drive is still inaccessible.
Clarifications:
1/ I attempted to register (20-digit code + key) the drive for the NDAS software program from XIMETA in two ways: LAN connection and USB connection.
The result is the same: it claims to have recorded the number (code recognized I suppose) but indicates that the device was not found.
2/ I followed the instructions in the manual (very poorly written, by the way!) regarding disabling the Windows firewall. Here is the link to the document.
https://www.verbatim.fr/includes/binary_details.php3?id=5334
I really don’t know what else to do
Thank you in advance for your helpConfiguration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have the 640Go verbatim and after a whole bunch of attempts, the NDAS is essential to connect.... directly via ftp it’s impossible... at least with the Freebox.

Hello,
I have a Verbatim 500 GB multimedia hard drive, Mediastation Pro. When I connect it to my Samsung flat screen and turn on my hard drive, the blue light just keeps blinking and I can't read anything or even turn it off, except sometimes after about 10 minutes the blue light stabilizes and then I can watch my movies. Do you have any idea about my problem (connection) or should I return it?
Thanks for your replies.-
Please clarify what is happening because I'm having trouble understanding.
When your hard drive starts working, does the home screen appear, even after your 10 minutes?
How does your screen synchronize with the hard drive? For me, it takes quite a while, several synchronizations seem to happen, like 3.
The only times I've had freezing issues were due to a failure in the Wi-Fi search.
Talk to you later.

Hello,
you need to go to the Ximenta website and install the DNAS software... that way you'll have access to your drives.
See you! -
Being on Seven, I encounter much more difficulties than before on XP where I had set up the same type of network as you.
Right now, I have the Wi-Fi icon active, and when I try to connect to the PC via the HDD, it tells me that I have no shared files on the PC, even though I completely removed all the protections of Seven and I’m sharing the hard drive itself on both public and private networks without a password.-
that I completely removed all protections from seven and that I share the hard drive itself on the public and private network without a password.
you're really doing everything for it not to work in Windows for you, but for a virus, it finds its way just fine.
don’t forget the magic command:
\\ip address of the share
--
and ... there you go!

Good evening, I need your help to set up the Mediasation Pro 640GB
Indeed, I am having trouble configuring it for Wi-Fi :/ I have a Livebox and here is my problem
In the Wireless setup = 1, I perform an AP scan and I can see my network. I enable DHCP support, choose the correct channel and the correct SSID, I use WPA-TKIP security mode (the security mode of the Livebox indicated on 192.168.1.1 I enter the WPA password and set it to active for wireless connection, then I clicked on the association button of my Livebox
However, it doesn't work :/ In info, I do not have an assigned IP address but I do receive a wireless signal strength that rises to 90% and then drops to 0% five seconds later
I don't understand, thank you for your help -
Hello Eric,
I have successfully installed XIMETA.
First, the one supplied with the hard drive's CD, and then I installed the new version that is supposed to solve my problem (see forum http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 8260852 dd verbatim vu en sens unique).
I don't think the hard drive is defective because I know it is receiving an IP address; we can even ping the address it receives. AND if I connect it via USB cable, I can copy, paste, and delete files on the hard drive.
The NDAS program from XIMETA recognizes my hard drive when it is disconnected but connected to my LAN.
There is something I am missing, but I must say and repeat that the documentation provided with the hard drive is very, very poor!
It doesn't even mention the NDAS program that needs to be installed.
Here is the documentation for reference. (ENG version, sorry):
https://www.verbatim.fr/includes/binary_details.php3?id=5334
Thank you for your help.-
Hello,
Personally, I've set up the network and activated the NDAS on the multimedia disk's configuration interface. I've installed the Ximeta software, done a little reboot, and then configured the disk... for that, you need to get the number and key found on the back of the disk (for the verbatim). Once the manipulation is done, you should see a drive appear in your explorer. Personally, I formatted it to NTFS (it's quite long, but going through "postedetravail/manage/disk management" is seamless), and now I can create directories and copy/paste data onto my disk.
Of course, you need to mount the drive in the interface you have in the menu bar at the bottom right in R/W mode.
Not everything was straightforward because the CD provided is not readable, so I had to search a bit to find the software.
I have a Linksys router, my multimedia disk is connected via Ethernet, and my PC is on Wi-Fi...
If you have any issues, I can try to answer your questions, but I don't come here often :)
It's true that without this access from your PC, the disk loses some of its interest... but by following the instructions, you should be able to do it.
Good luck. -

I advise you to uninstall everything, revert to a restore point created before installing your hard drive, and follow my tutorial. I have a Freebox and 3 PCs on the network (2 Wi-Fi and one Ethernet) + Verbatim station via Ethernet, and everything works.
Verbatim Media Station 500 GB
1. Connect it via USB to a PC and name it, for example: Verbatim, create video folders for instance, then unplug it. Turn it off.
2. Connect the hard drive to the TV using the video cables (yellow) and audio cables (white and red) (possibly using a SCART adapter on IN). AV1 - Go into the hard drive's Setup with the remote and Network. Enable DHCP and NDAS. Set up for TV playback, then turn it off.
3. Connect the hard drive via Ethernet, turn it on. On the first PC, install the latest version of the software "ndasscsi" 3.30.1602 (32 bits)
4. The software installs, leave the option that corresponds to a profile (first installation of an online hard drive) since the hard drive is indeed named Verbatim.
Click Next
Enter the ID numbers and key noted on the label attached to the hard drive
Click Next
Check the first line
Click Next
It states new hardware detected and will ask for the driver
Check to install the software automatically
A restore point is created
Wait a bit and a Verbatim window should appear; otherwise, you'll find the media drive in This PC.
5. Repeat step (3) on each PC; when you want, you can stop the hard drive, and a window will appear at the bottom saying it is disabled. -

Hi guys, for the pro version of the verbatim, the Wi-Fi one, there's no 20-digit serial number, what do we do then?
Thanks in advance-
Hello,
The pro version does not accept NDAs, apparently you need to set up FTP with Filezilla, here is the official overview:
File transfer to the MediaStation hard drive over a network
Filezilla is a free software compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Network Setup
First, it is important to configure the network on the MediaStation. It can be connected via cable or wirelessly, although a wired connection has better performance for transferring large files. The hard drive's IP address can be dynamic (DHCP) or static, where the IP address is entered manually. If files need to be transferred regularly, it may be more beneficial to have a manual IP address that will not change.
Configuring the FTP server on the MediaStation
1. Turn on the MediaStation after connecting it to the television
2. When it has finished starting up, press the Setup button on the remote control. Navigate left or right through the menu until you are on the FTP icon and press the OK button
3. Please note that the FTP server can only be configured if the FTP server option is OFF. If it is ON, please reconfigure it to OFF.
4. Four types of settings can be changed for the FTP server:
1. FTP Server Save To Path the default value is /hdd/DISK1
2. Server ID the default value is altechuser
3. Server Password the default value is altech
4. Server Port the default value is 21
5. If you are doing this for the first time, it is probably best to leave these settings as they are
6. When you have finished making the necessary changes, reconfigure the FTP Server to ON
7. Press the Setup button on the remote control and save the settings
8. You are now ready to connect to your PC via the FileZilla software (this software is not provided with the drive)
Configuring Filezilla
After downloading Filezilla from the link https://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/files/
double-click the downloaded file to install the program. Once installed, launch FileZilla. You will need to enter 3 things before you can connect to the FTP server:
Address – the IP address of your MediaStation, e.g. 192.168.2.1
1. User – (username) – this is the server identification from the previous section - Server ID
2. Password – (password) this is the server password as above
3. Port – if you left the value 21 above, there is no need to enter it since the default port is 21.
4. You should now be able to connect your MediaStation by clicking the QuickConnect button in Filezilla. You should then see the list of local files on the left side of the screen and the MediaStation window on the right side.
To transfer files from the local computer to the MediaStation, select the file or folder in question on the side of the screen representing your local files and drag it to the side of the screen representing the MediaStation. You can also do the reverse.
Hoping to have answered your question... :-) -
Thank you for taking the time to answer this question,
So I managed to connect all of this, I can see my external hard drive in FileZilla, and the external hard drive finds the shared documents on my Vista PC, so I'm about 3/4 happy. Can we make this drive appear as a network drive? I've tried several times and it doesn't work. It would be great to just do a copy and paste without going through FileZilla :(
If you know how to do it, I'm all ears,
A big thank you. -
Good evening,
To make the MEDIASTATION appear as a network drive, try adding the address of your disk
192.168.1.x to the network favorites. Create a new favorite and address.
I don't know how to do it myself, but if you look around a bit, you should be able to manage it.
As for me, I have the disk in my computer as a normal disk and I do copy-paste
with my Mediastation, but it is essential to use NDAS mode (Ximeta software) which is not available in the MEDIASTATION PRO.
You have nothing to lose; the file transfer is very slow at 1MB/s...... -
Re-
That's exactly what I tried to do, add it to the network favorites, either with a Vista PC or with an XP, result: I can't connect, of course the ximeta software isn't very useful to me due to the lack of a serial number, and believe me I've searched everywhere, even at 1MB/s I'm interested, as a matter of principle :),
But I will keep looking, I won't lose hope! !

Hello,
I bought a MediaStationPro external hard drive, I tried to configure the FTP with FileZilla, everything works well, I can see the local files on my PC and the files on my MediaStation drive. But when I try to copy a file, I get this response:
Response: 530 Server is busy, sorry
Error: Critical error
Error: Unable to connect to the server
If you know how to solve this problem, I’m all ears.
Thank you very much

Hello,
Unfortunately, I'm not at the same level as you: I'm terrible with networks! (and maybe in other areas too ;o)
I have connected (at least I think) the mediastation to my livebox via wifi. The mediastation icon is blue,
when I press "info", it shows the IP address 192.168.1.30 which I fixed in the wireless setup, signal strength 90%
my wifi card has the fixed IP 192.168.1.20
Everything is set up in ad hoc network (after 2 hours of trying in vain in infrastructure mode where my network never appeared in the list provided by mediastation)
I shared a directory named video
when I select wireless, the mediastation indicates "no devices"
at the command prompt, ping 192.168.1.30 does not respond
I tried to connect with filezilla but since the ping doesn't work, of course, the HD is not visible.
I must have an issue with my network settings but I'm stuck!
Thank you in advance ....-
Good evening,
Well, here's what I've done:
1) On HDD, do Setup and then go to the Wireless settings by pressing OK
2) I manually set a wireless IP address with the DHCP option disabled, 192.168.001.150, just an example, subnet mask 255.255.255.000
3) If your box has a security key like WEP or WPA, you need to enter it afterwards
Once finished, save with Setup
For the FTP configuration, you first need to set it to Disabled mode, then I left the default settings: altechesur + altech + 21
With the ping + address 192......, no response either (???)
Despite this, I can see my Mediastation HDD and transfer files from my PC using FileZilla, but I'm still struggling with the Shoutcast radio option + background music with the photos..... If someone can help me.....
Good luck with the rest!!!!

Good evening and thank you for the response!
First piece of news: it works
Second piece of news: I know how, but not really how!
Here's how I did it:
1- created a network with my wifi card, address of my fixed IP card
2- SETUP on the mediastation: selected wireless
3- search AP: two choices with livebox or my network
4- choice of my network
5- entered the WEP key from my wifi card!!!! Yes, I had left the key of the livebox (Oh, how stupid I am!)
6- to know the key, you need to note it when creating the network with the wizard, the WEP key. It even offers to print it, that's better!
7- only FTP access left, but I'm on the right track!
Thank you for your response. In any case, it almost deserves a tutorial.
I’ll come back for the radio and the rest ....
See you! -
Hello,
I have a brand new Mediastation 650Go that is not detected via USB.
Before sending it back, I'm trying to compensate for the lack of USB connection with a network connection.
I'm using XP, I've installed XIMETA, and the linkage manager shows my Mediastation 640 as ready, the NDAS and DHCP are activated in the setup of my Mediastation...
But I don't see the disk on my computer. There must be a procedure to follow, but I don't know which one?-
-
Hello,
Some additional information...
I can "ping" my hard drive from the PC.
The drive is correctly configured in the NDAS software from Ximeta. It shows a Ready status (after mounting), but its icon is a small white square when it should be blue (Read/Write) or green (Read only).
I have the impression that the "mount" action is not proceeding correctly. Moreover, in the properties of the drive (via Ximeta), it says "Mountpending"
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you for your help. -

As mentioned in my previous message, switching to NTFS has improved things a bit, but in terms of stability, it's not great.
I haven't been able to upgrade from version 3.5 to 3.43.
No matter how much I uninstall 3.5 and try to install 3.43, it's always 3.5 that gets installed.
I'm losing hope...
I feel like I'm going to end up giving up!
If you find a solution, don't hesitate to drop by ;D -
The version 3.6 has just been released...
I have the regular mediastation 640 and I am connected via Wi-Fi with Vista through a Freebox ADSL v5... the transfer speed of the NAS is factory-set to a LAN network of 10 Mb/s max, which is 1.2 MB, similar to USB 1.1 like on most low-end storage NAS.... so that means 700 MB in about 10 minutes, a 4 GB DVD in about 55 minutes... So for transferring large files, it's better to use USB 2.0
For the Media Stations Pro, the firmware accepting the NAS has been released by Altech (the manufacturer of these products subcontracted by Verbatim but only available in English and what about the NAS access code)?
So easier transfer via the FTP server.
And for those who want the mediastation NAS access codes, they are not underneath as indicated in the documentation but on the back next to the USB and Ethernet RJ45 ports... formatting in NTFS does not cause any problems with Windows 2000-XP-Vista etc... but it does create minor visibility and read/write issues on Mac and Linux systems.
There you go, good luck.

Hello,
In case it helps someone...
I formatted my drive to NTFS and installed version 1.50 of NDAS Ximeta (instead of 1.20 for FAT32), and I can now see my drive in Explorer.
But copying or reading is another story. Disconnections, crashes...
I will try another version of the software. Probably 1.43!
I hope it works... -
Hello,
I would like to format my Verbatim Mediastation drive, but I can't access it because it is not detected anywhere. What should I do? Does anyone have a solution? -
Oh, if you know a lot about Wi-Fi, I’m interested because ever since I switched to seven, I can't manage to share files with the HDD.
-
-
I created a small network with the live box, all via wifi.
I let DHCP assign an IP number for the 2 devices, knowing that the livebox is 192.168.1.1.
Then, it takes about 5 minutes to see the livebox and the PC by accessing through the wifi icon on the mediastation.
The shared folder on my PC was set up with XP.
Additionally, the firewall needs to be properly configured because it blocked access to my PC and made it invisible.
Here are the possible solutions...
See you later.
-
-
I had the same thing as you when I hadn't fully set up the Mediastation in the firewall (outpost).
In my opinion, it's a folder sharing issue on Seven.
Does your folder have a "shared folder" icon on Seven?
Describe your setup as much as possible, or should we do this over the phone? -
Yop 0/
Well, regarding the protections I removed, I know it’s not the best thing to do, but I plan to roll back as soon as it works correctly.
Anyway, I've made some progress. I can connect via FTP, I can create folders in it with FileZilla, transfer files, it tells me it’s successful but actually the file doesn't appear on the multimedia hard drive and suddenly it shows 0 bytes on FileZilla (I’m in binary transfer).
But initially, it wasn’t the connection I was looking for; the transfer is slow and it just serves to fill the hard drive for storage. What I really want is to successfully see my shared files from my PC and stream them on the hard drive like on XP...
\\IP address of the share
I must admit I don’t see it. I think I managed to add the disk's IP in the firewall on seven, for both incoming and outgoing traffic, but I’m a bit stuck.
And no, my folder on seven doesn't have a sharing icon like under XP with the hand. I only see it in the properties.-
Ok, so the connection is not at all the issue. It is indeed the sharing of the folder under Seven. Unfortunately, since I don't have (yet!) Seven, I can't reproduce your difficulty. So I'm having trouble helping you. What is certain is that if you copy using FileZilla, then it's not the connection and its settings that are at play.
By the way, are you on HAD OC or in infrastructure? In HAD OC, you should only see the shared folder from your PC. In infrastructure, you should first have the choice between the box and your PC, then you can access shared folders.- The problem is the NDAS version of Ximeta: the latest versions (3.6, 3.7, ...) all have bugs.
On my side, by connecting the Mediastation via Ethernet to my computer running W7, I finally managed to create a stable communication with version 3.43 of Ximeta, although I must admit I'm disappointed with the transfer rates, which never exceed 2MB/sec.
-
-
so let's detail,
start>>run>>\\shared ip address
--
and ... There you go! -
C:\Users\XXXXXXX>\\192.168.1.XX
The syntax of the file name, directory name, or volume label is incorrect.
Sorry if I'm being a pain, but this isn't really my area. -
No problem with that; if I do it in the address bar of the browser, I can access the structure of the hard drive just fine.
-
bavoilàpas :)
actually, I can't either copy a file correctly with FileZilla (as mentioned above), nor can I see them later in the hard drive's directory structure.
Yet FileZilla tells me everything is fine and suddenly the files show up as 0 bytes.
