Hello,
if you can help me, I'm trying to block my numeric keypad without success. I can use my numbers by pressing the arrow key simultaneously, but how can I write a series of numbers without pressing that arrow key at the same time? Is there a key or something else to switch to numeric mode? I have a white MacBook from Apple, thank you for your help.

I have the solution for your keyboard. Go to System Preferences and then International
and choose French numeric keyboard only
then you will see the lock arrow in green and it works and the period too
there you go, I hope I helped you

An unknown anomaly in my career.
The numeric keypad no longer works on the keys from 1 to 9.
The symbol keys (=/*-+,0) work.
Changed the keyboard, same issue on the new one.
The machine, an EMAC G4 - OSX 10.2.8
I don't understand...
A helping hand would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance. -
Hello,
You need to go to System Preferences / Languages and Text / Input Methods .. and there, you need to activate the French Numeric keyboard and the French keyboard
(the box "Show Input menu in menu bar" should be checked)
Then from the menu bar, you can choose the French keyboard or French Numeric.
With the French Numeric keyboard activated and the Caps Lock key, you should achieve what you're looking for.

I had the same problem and I managed to solve it. You need to go to system preferences, keyboard, input method. Then, check "French (numeric)" BUT make sure no other box is checked! "French (numeric)" must be the only box checked for it to work.

Hi everyone! I also have this problem. I have to hold the shift key to type numbers. I've done what you asked me to, but the issue is that I can't deselect French because it's not highlighted.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance! -
EASY: double click on shift (?)! In any case, it works on MacBook 8
YOU'RE WELCOME, GUYS! -
Il faut faire attention à ce qu'en haut à droite il y ait les chiffres 123 en dessous du drapeau français (le raccourci pour passer d'un mode numérique à non numérique est 'cmd' + 'spacebar').

Little information that may prove useful for understanding the tutorials and answers, the "little arrow" is called SHIFT.

Hello
I have the same problem, but this solution does not solve my issue. It is still impossible to use the numeric keypad.

Hi,
I'm having the same issue with a MacBook Pro. I had selected French in the setup assistant. As mentioned above, I switched French and French Numerical in "Language and Text" and still can't type numbers without the Shift key... Thank you for your help. -
Hi Sanspseudo
Thank you! Finally someone who gives good advice without going on and on like so often happens.
This has really taken a big thorn out of my side!
Thanks! -
The only way I know to do this is to switch to QWERTY mode on your keyboard while you type the numbers, then switch back to AZERTY. Because when you find in QWERTY, the pad is automatically locked.
To do this, go to system preferences, language and text, input methods, choose French and also select American! Then check the little box below that offers to display it in the menu bar, so you can easily switch from one to the other. I even believe there is a keyboard shortcut like "Command + Parenthesis."
There you go.
