Hello,

I need to send a file that is 11.5 MB, but I can't attach it in an email because my mailbox says it’s too large. I created a ZIP that reduces it to 10.5 MB, but that is still too big.

How can I reduce this folder and send it?

    Why not use an online service without registration like SwissTransfer or Smash?

    If that does not bother your recipient, of course.

      Yes, this is THE solution to prioritize: email wasn’t designed to carry a lot of data.

      @TigreTimide40 StatusMember: Simply put the document’s sharing link in the email and your recipient will be able to download the document without any problem (and your inbox won’t get bloated by 11MB)

      There are also free alternatives that store temporarily and encrypt the documents on their servers:

        We are talking about a computer file, not a folder, regardless of the functional role of the document.

        If the page is larger than 1MB, I invite you to follow Raymond Pentier's advice further down.

        You must remove and lighten the media within the document before reinserting them.

    You also have the option to lighten your document:

    • Delete one or two videos, one or two music files.
    • Replace your high-definition photos with lower-definition photos.
    • If you use many different fonts, reduce their number.

    You should go below 10 MB...

    Hello,

    It might be complicated; I haven’t used it in years, but PAQ8PX is one of the most powerful algorithms in the world for data compression.

    In the past you had to drag the pdf onto paq8px.exe to compress it, and the same for decompression, but I’m not sure if you now have to use the command line or not; instructions are normally included.

    It depends on who you’re sending the pdf to; if the person is able to decompress it afterward with the same program, you’ll gain a smaller size.

      But actually, 7-Zip, which is more widespread than PAQ8PX, would probably already compress enough if the limit is 10MB, in 7z Ultra format



      You need a third-party compression tool other than Windows to extract, again, but 7-Zip is free and useful.
