When I type with my Mac keyboard and I want to use the <,> key on the numeric keypad, I would like it to display a dot <.> instead. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you!

This is a topic that comes up periodically. There are several possibilities, at least these:

1- hold down the "Temporary Shift" key

2- choose from the "Input" menu (the little flag at the top right) a key layout corresponding to a language that uses the period as a decimal separator (American keyboard, Swiss French,...) but be careful, the alphabetical keys will no longer match the labeling...

3- create a custom keyboard with Ukulele (by duplicating your usual French keyboard and modifying the key assignment). It's a bit more complicated (though) but much more practical if it's for more or less regular use (you can easily switch between the two)

Be careful, it won't work with certain applications, especially Excel, which has its own handling of the decimal separator, and then you need to:

4- go to the "Languages and Text" system settings of Mac OS X and choose a Format using the period as the decimal separator.
