Hello,
I just acquired the components for a new PC:
-core 2 duo E8400
-ASUS P5Q pro
-2x2 GB RAM G.Skill
-ATI HD4870
-Antec 500W PSU
-500 GB HDD
After assembling, a problem appeared: all the fans, the HDD, the graphics card… everything is running. But the CPU fan is not working and the motherboard seems to refuse to turn on: the LED is lit, but there’s no BIOS, just a black screen… Is there a solution????
PLZ help

re
I might make you scream, but did you properly place the spacers between the card and the case?
Sorry, I'm saying this because I sold a case to a guy who had a BTS in computer science and he complained that his PC wouldn't start, and he hadn't put the spacers in place.
Catch you later

I assume you have a standard VGA output on your motherboard.
If you can connect your monitor to it and boot with just the processor and one stick of RAM, without a hard drive or a drive, and also remove your GPU.
And let us know what happens.

Hello, I had the same problem. No beep at startup and a black screen. The fan is running, but slowly.
After disconnecting gradually everything I had taken 3 hours to wire, I managed to (almost) start by removing one of the two 1GB memory sticks.
It's OCZ DDR2 8500 1GB. I haven't tried swapping them yet to see if one of them is faulty.
My setup is
P5Q,
CPU E7400
GPU: Gainward 9600GT
Power Supply Corsair 450W (I hope that's enough)
Memory OCZ DDR2 8500 2x1GB (so currently -1)
Now my issue is that XP is installed on an IDE HDD from my old setup which crashes at startup. Impossible to boot even in safe mode. And the blue screen that follows flashes so quickly that we can't read what's on it.
I've seen that there's another topic in this forum that mentions this.
If someone has a specific procedure (or at least some ideas) to help me either start with this HDD or recover my previous setup which had a lot of software installed, even by changing disks and transferring the maximum to a SATA HDD.
Otherwise, I'm going to get killed by my kids who will miss the good old P4 at 2.5GHz.
Thanks in advance.

Hello
To install an OS previously installed on an old configuration onto a new configuration, there are precautions to take beforehand.
The first one was to uninstall all drivers related to the old hardware.
It's too late. The hardware of the new configuration is in conflict with the old one still present on the disk.
No solution, except to reinstall everything cleanly.
If there are any data, you need to connect the disk to another PC as a slave and save what can be saved.

re
try a BIOS reset if not already done
could it be a power default?

It's done, this time with the minimum, it beeps!!!! one long and 3 short... telling me it's because there's no keyboard... very well, I plug it in, no more beeping, I put the graphics card back in to try to get the famous BIOS, and no, still no screen, no beeps......
scratch scratch :s
Question: if it beeps, does that mean the BIOS is not dead?
Question: Is it possible that the PCI-E slots (as I've tested both) are dead?
Thank you for your insights!!

hi
you are unlucky
I have only been using Asus for almost three years and had only one customer service issue with an M2NX Plus that wouldn’t start, had to do a reset for it to work and once started no problems
exchanged by the professional customer service without any issues
see you later

Moreover, dear LuNa, Asrock is Asus..........
Asrock was created by Asus to occupy the low-end niche that others successfully occupied (ECS, Elite), and especially to avoid overshadowing Asus's "historical" range: the mid/high-end.

Hello at your place
Finally, I got a new P5Q PRO this morning which, once assembled, works wonderfully without any other configuration changes!!! It must have been the motherboard :)
The only problem I've had since is the temperature of the HD4850 (80° idle and 100° in game).
For those who might be interested, the solution is to enable OC in the CCC, create a profile and edit it as below:
- <Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_0">
<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" />
- <Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="45" />
Above 45, it gets a bit noisy ...
Result: 45° idle instead of 80° and 70° in game instead of 100°

same issue, black screen, no BIOS.
I had forgotten to connect the eatx12v power connector. A big thank you to the person who suggested this slightly forgotten connection ^^

hi
try using another graphics card or see if there’s another port to connect your screen to the motherboard
I had a black screen when my graphics card failed

the graphics card is running and I don't have any other display cables available or a second PCI-E graphics card...
and my motherboard doesn't "beep" either, is that normal?

mine isn't beeping and it's running
other than that, I don't see anything else
is your graphics card properly seated in the pci-e slot?
if so, try changing ports, it might be that

I've done it already. What equipment do you have? And is it normal for the CPU fan not to be running?
Oh no, the CPU fan must turn from the start
As for the hardware, I have an MSI P7N Platinum motherboard
Q6600 + CNPS9700NT
8800GT + VF1000LED
X-Fi Platinum

I called the store where I bought the parts, and they told me that the CPU fan doesn't turn on right away; it only spins when the CPU really needs to be cooled, but I find that strange.
yes, I also find it strange
is it the intel radbox (the one originally provided with the processor)?

Do you think it's possible that the motherboard could touch the metal of the case and that this would prevent it from starting?
Hi everyone, being also a happy owner of this motherboard, the problem comes from your memory.
What frequency is your memory at? Because when I try to boot with Kingston 533, I get a black screen, no boot, and when I put in 667, it boots without any problem. Try another RAM stick and keep us updated.... See you!

I have a P5Q-E and I'm experiencing the same problem: no boot, no beeping, black screen, nothing. My memory is GSkill 533MHz 2x1GB PC2-4300. Do I need to change my memory, considering that my motherboard starts on the first boot but not on the second and I have to do a clear each time? Given that all my other components work perfectly, should I really doubt this memory?
