Accessing your Freebox on your PC

Hello,

Since my husband changed his PC and especially with Windows 11, he has not resolved the problem of being able to access our Freebox on his PC. At FREE, no one knows and cannot help us, they tell us they do not have IT staff.

Could someone help us?

    Hello,

    access to Windows shares on a FBX is done by configuring a user account on the box, and using it as you would in the Windows File Explorer.

    however, if it worked with the old PC, simply reproduce the same method; it should work the same.

    The first thing to check is that the box’s network is set to Private, not Public, then we should be able to reuse the same account to access the box shares.

    If the same account has not been configured for Windows, you must specify it again at the moment of accessing the box:

    configuration compte windows freebox © brupala

    And there you go, there you go, there you go ....

    But there is the misery, how annoying the line spacing is !!

      Actually the question is whether 2 PCs can be connected to the box with FREE OS using the same password or if a different password per PC is required. And when you forget the password of the first PC connected a long time ago, what happens? Can we get a new one and does it need to be installed on the old one as well?

        To connect to Freebox OS, you need a password that is the same for all PCs that are used.

        If you have forgotten this password, you will need to redefine it.

        (scroll to the bottom of the page).

        The screen I have is different from the one you indicate: there is only guest mode with icons everywhere (I don’t know how to send a photo with CCM).

        I'm too weak in IT to understand CCM's replies. To avoid wasting your time, the simplest thing is to consider that the problem is resolved.

        Hi,

        not a password per PC, a password per user account, a single user can log in from multiple PCs, and a user can use another user's account if they know their password, but those are just basics of networked computing. A computer doesn't have a password.

    Free recommends using Freebox OS. The problem is that you have to change the password. Which one? Is it the password of the box that we use for the hotline? If that’s the case, aren’t there risks involved?
