You need to download and install the "multilanguage Handheld software" for your device from the "BlackBerry Desktop Manager."

Hello,
Have you tried my recommendations? (Response 5)
In the second operation (point 2 of my explanations: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22) in your case, for the selection, choose BB 8120 and continue
Feel free to share your experience with this smartphone

Hello hydrostyx,
I also had a "language" problem on my Blackberry. I followed your advice but couldn't figure it out (even though your explanations were detailed). Thank you anyway.
After a lot of research and perseverance, I came across this webpage;
http://www.blackberry-fr.com/34/mettre-a-jour-los-dun-blackberry/ and I simply followed the process:
- first, select your carrier,
- then in the product selection, choose your Blackberry model
- then depending on the BB model selected, you are automatically directed to a page where a multiple download choice is displayed. To find out which software you need to download, go to the main menu of the BB, then to the "mobile update" icon and check the references, and you'll just need to download.
- they ask you to fill out a form with your personal info, then the download takes place.
Please remember NOT TO CONNECT YOUR BB via USB cord to your computer to continue.
Once the software is installed, it prompts you to launch it immediately: accept.
- then go to Application Loader; add/remove applications start
if it asks for a terminal password, it's the same one you use for your BB, and normally you can access the language choices directly where you just need to check what interests you and uncheck what doesn't (do it because you'll save space on your BB by organizing everything)
and once that's done, the software updates everything (including the choices you've just made)
. You go to your phone, on the OPTIONS OR SETTINGS icons, go to Languages and you just have to change the language choice.
AND there you go, have a great day everyone!-

Bravo heavenangel, that's exactly what I needed... I followed your procedure and it's a success, it is indeed asking me to add the apps I want including the languages....
I remind you of my problem: My BB comes from Qatar (so only Arabic and English) and I didn't have French.
Thank you so much.

Did you do it?
Menu / Settings / Setup Assistant / Terminal Configuration / Language...
Let me know if yes...
See you later. -
Hello, I hope you have found your answer since 2008. I faced the same issue and despite the forums, we are still left wanting. If my experience can help others....
To obtain a language other than those available on the mobile:
1°) Prerequisite: If you haven't done so, install Desktop Manager via the provided BB (BlackBerry) CD on your PC, or download it from the official BB site:
https://www.blackberry.com/fr/fr
Follow the instructions.
The Desktop Manager icon will appear on your desktop. Continue following the instructions, etc., etc.
2°) Go to the link from the official Blackberry site:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
After following the instructions, register under your company name and download (registration only, if it asks you to run, wait for the next step: See 3°)) on your PC, the software "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.181 (Multilanguage)"
3°) (With the BB still connected to the PC via the cable) On the PC, when you activate the Desktop Manager icon, 5 icons will appear. Activate the "application loader" icon.
Normally, it should automatically look for the software you downloaded. If not, you can run the software launch manually.
Follow the instructions, choose the languages you want, launch it, and wait about ten minutes.
NOTE: You may find variations or difficulties in your manipulations, so please do not hesitate to improve my explanations and correct my omissions.-
I managed to download the desktop and the multilingual application, but when I try to launch the application loader, it can't find it. If I search for it on the computer files, it tells me that it's not compatible with my BB 8820, even though it's the multilingual application for 8820???!!!! What should I do?

Click on Apply. -
Hello,
I followed your help up to the software language download: indeed, I can't find, on your link, the language software you mentioned (BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.181 (Multilanguage)).
As for me, I own a BlackBerry Curve 8520, and I want to install the French language on it after a friend deleted it.
Is this possible?
Thank you.-

Hello,
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you if it will work. I can only give you some guidance. You need to try it out. Mobile devices change references or names for technical advancements or bug fixes, but there are no fundamental changes in terms of technology. The differences should be found among the "curve," "bolt," or "storm," but not within the same series. And I honestly don't think there will be any particular issues. The multilingual software "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.338" (the previous version was v4.2.1.181) is the same for the 8820 and the 8320. So, for the 8520...
Above all, please share your experience.
Best regards. -
Hello,
I don't understand anything... I have the BB 9000 Bold, I have English on it, I want to switch to French, but how?? I downloaded the Desktop Manager, but there's nothing I can do: I click on "Application Loader" -> "Add Applications" and then start -> it reads and shows me everything I already have as applications... but what I want is to add, not just to see what I have...
I've been following the advice of different people for 3 days now but NOTHING..PLEASE HELP -
Hello,
Personally, I also have issues with Desktop Manager but curiously the transfers work: I just changed my BB and I transferred the entirety of my old BB!!!
But before going through Desktop M, have you checked if you have the French option directly on your Bold? The path I have on my 8520 is Menu / Options / Language / you click on "English" (since it is in English) and normally you should see a list of other languages appear. If you bought this BB in England, it is possible that you do not have the choice of French. If this is the case, I'm stuck telling you which multilingual software to get. There are tests to be done and as a last resort, you can ask for help (but it’s in English) at https://www.blackberry.com/fr/fr
Also see https://www.blackberry.com/fr/fr
Please share your experience if you found the solution
Best regards.

Hello, I just deleted the French language on my BlackBerry Curve 8520 without meaning to
and now I can't get it back
Could you help me????
pleaseeeeee urgentttttttttttt-

It's nonsense!!!!!
I have a BlackBerry 8900 that only speaks Spanish and English. I tried Heavenangel's technique and then I am asked to choose the operator, and to my great surprise, there is no option for the Africa zone even though we have major mobile operator firms like Orange, MTN.............
It's really disappointing, in this case, they should warn us that Africa zone should refrain from buying this phone because it serves no purpose to buy it and not be able to do anything with it. -

Hi
to change the language on your BlackBerry, download BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Then, after downloading it, connect your BlackBerry with the USB cable and normally when you go to Desktop Manager it will say Applications, you click on it and you will find the French update. You can then download it to your BlackBerry and that's it. -
I'm stuck on my Blackberry Curve 3G and Catalan and French do not appear in the language list.
-

I would like to have the drivers to put photos and videos on it. If possible, change the language in the options, there is only Cantonese and English. However, I tried to download the drivers but I'm asked for a code. If you have it, please send it to me.
