Alpha keyboard lock on my Blackberry B

Solved/Closed

Hello, after putting my Blackberry Bold 9000 in my pocket for 2 hours, when I wanted to use it again, I found myself facing a blockage of the alpha keyboard and I can't unlock it because my code is alphabetical. At the top right of the screen, it is constantly mentioned SOS and 123, meaning numeric mode as soon as I want to enter my code????
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

In fact, it is the secret code that is required from you, and then you will be asked for the password; therefore, you need to use the numeric keypad carefully.

I have the same problem. It asks me to enter the PIN code but the keyboard is completely frozen. It doesn't respond. Does anyone have a solution?

I am in the same situation as you, except that for me, the numeric keypad does not want to display; it shows EN at the top right.

I have exactly this problem. I had my phone in my pocket last night and when I wanted to use it, it was locked with 123 and SOS in the top left corner...
Please tell me you have the solution....
    Thank you in advance.

In fact, what they are asking you for is your numeric code and then they will ask you for your alpha code...

On me dit également d'entrer "blackberry". S'il vous plaît, aidez-moi.

Hello samludo, I have the solution to your problem, I suggest three paths:
      - Call your operator (dial 700 free call for Orange mobiles)
      - Remove the battery from your smartphone, then put it back in.
      - Try pressing and holding alt to enter numbers and cap for letters ;)

I think after that your problem will be solved ;)

Hello, my BB is asking me to enter Blackberry and then a password. The problem is that my password doesn't seem to be the one it expects :(

Can someone tell me what happens if I enter the wrong passwords?

      Thanks!!!

    Hello
I have the same problem, my Blackberry asked me to enter "blackberry" and then asked for a password that is neither my PIN nor my unlock code.

    Does anyone have the solution?

    Thank you very much.

Hello, have you found a solution? I have the same issue as Kam: my BB is asking me to tap Blackberry and then for the security code. The problem is I'm at 9 attempts out of 10.

The entry of the 10th code will reset the phone; nothing serious in itself, but the data on it will most likely be lost, such as directories, etc.

When you have set a keyboard password, when your BB shows the message "type the word 'blackberry'", follow this instruction. Then it asks for your password. Type your keyboard password, the screen will display the corresponding letters for the keys pressed - NO PANIC - validate - Your BB is unlocked and you access the home page. YOU DO NOT LOSE any data.

    Hello!

For many months, I have imposed a keyboard lock on my Blackberry Curve 8900 with a numeric password, and this lock was functioning completely normally and satisfactorily.

However, for the second time, I am encountering a very troubling problem.

Suddenly, without understanding why (perhaps a particular combination of keys pressed completely unintentionally), the window asking for the keyboard lock password is no longer working correctly: it initially asked me to type the word 'blackberry', then instead of displaying the usual asterisks (and by default numbers, since my password was entirely numeric), it clearly shows what is being typed in lowercase letters. If I enter the old keyboard lock password, it does not accept it. As a result, the phone is completely unusable.
    What should I do?

Note that the SIM PIN behaves completely normally: if I remove and reinsert the battery, I can enter the PIN without any problem, and it is accepted; it’s only at the second step, for the keyboard unlocking, that things go wrong.
I saw on my provider Orange's website that the PUK code was available, but the PUK is intended to unlock the PIN code, so I suppose it would be completely useless to try that maneuver (??).

What is curious is that this is happening for the second time: the first time, several months ago, I stubbornly tried to re-enter the code until exhausting the 10 allowed attempts and I lost all my data...

    Thank you for any suggestions...

    There are two passwords:

One that you have encoded on the Blackberry, which can be alphanumeric, and the other that is associated with your SIM card, which is only numeric (this code is written on the booklet of your SIM card - PIN code, unless you have changed it, but in any case, it is numeric).

After entering your SIM card related code (PIN), the BB unlocks and asks for the password that you have encoded in the BB.

I had the same problem and managed to unlock it.

    I hope this helps you.

What worked: I typed the usual password key combination, ignoring what was showing on the screen... and it unlocked the BB.

Thank you very much, indeed we should not pay attention to whether it's a number or not... just type like usual and it works. In my case, the keyboard blocking is only with numbers, so I switched to number mode... which I shouldn't have done!!!

    Hello,
same keyboard bug: I can enter the SIM card PIN without any problem (with stars to mask the entered PIN), but afterwards, the keyboard switches to EN mode, the code is displayed in plain text (without the star masking), and it systematically refuses to recognize that the password I entered was correct.
Result: after 10 attempts, the terminal is reset, erasing all personal data (without the possibility of backup via PC as the password is also unrecognized after connecting the BB to the PC), but the most outrageous part is the deletion of the SIM card data, which, on one hand, is not the property of Blackberry (on what basis does the software allow itself to delete that data??????), and on the other hand, the security argument (we erase all your data in case it's an intrusion attempt on your terminal) doesn't hold up since the PIN had been recognized and accepted by the phone!
Other info: BB 8900, in my possession for 1 year and 2 months, with light usage and no extreme conditions, and barely any applications downloaded, so little risk of malware.
Conclusion: I am very unhappy with the fragility of this terminal and its lifespan.

Hello, I have a bit of a different problem. When I turn on my BB Curve 8520, it asks me to enter Blackberry
The thing is, the "e" key doesn't work for some reason, even though the keyboard has no issues
So, is there any trick to unlock my BB please? I don't know what to do anymore.

Very simple! Install the software provided with your bby. When it asks you for your unlock code, enter the one you thought you knew. I had the same experience and it worked.
Then, go to add/remove programs in the main menu.

You will see an application called password manager. Uncheck it and start the update. You will see the miracle happen once the update is done. If it doesn't work, respond on the forum.

For those who have a keyboard issue stuck in EN mode when entering the second password (terminal lock, not the PIN), normally the alt+enter combination allows you to select the language, but in this specific case, it doesn't work. Here is the solution I found:

    1) Call your blackberry from another phone
    2) Answer from the blackberry. This doesn't unlock the bb but it unlocks the alt+enter key combination that allows you to select the language.
    3) Select "French" (phew!) and hang up. The keyboard is then in French mode and password entry works again.

The best thing is to type the usual password without the alt. For example, if your usual password is 1234, you need to type zers. I can confirm that it works perfectly; my phone has gone back to normal after this little stress.

Yes, I confirm, thank you Nicoco94 and bambino! A few months ago, I lost all my data (even those from my SIM card) after 10 attempts. And this time, I followed both of your tips: 1. Switch to FR instead of EN and 2. Enter the usual password without the Alt, without worrying about what appears on the screen.

    Hello
I have the same keyboard locking issue with my BB 8900. I have a small solution that works well: by holding down the ALT key and pressing the other keys

Now I'm looking for a way to change this keyboard option so that I can type the keys without the ALT key.
