Hello, I'm new to this forum and I would like to know if it is possible to connect my PS3 to my HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. I have an HDMI port on my laptop and on my PS3, and I'm using Vista. Basically, I want to play my PS3 on my laptop, turning it into a monitor...
Can you please help me?

Hello
Many of you imagine using the screen of your laptop, especially for gaming on a console, but unfortunately, this is not possible in most cases, as laptops were not designed for that. The latest generation computers have the magical HDMI that attracts envy. It's a trap because while it works to play a DVD from the computer on the TV, it doesn't work to record TV onto the computer. This is an HDMI output and not an HDMI input! (A few rare PCs are equipped with an HDMI input, but this remains the exception).
Break your piggy bank and buy a nice medium-sized LCD (91cm is great) with HDMI in maximum definition mode, it's fantastic, and to relieve stress, you have the HD TNT TV.
Cheers

The topic is outdated but it is possible as long as the laptop has, in addition to the "hdmi out" port, a second "hdmi in" port, like my Dell Alienware m17x r4.
Just like the "projector" function of the "hdmi out" port (image of the PC duplicated on a television for example), you can now connect a PS3 (which has a 720p image) and use the PC as a television, with HD sound as a bonus.
However, broadcasting 720p is altered at 1080p.
By the way, to this day I am still looking for software to record my exploits via this hdmi input, given that most of this software records what happens on the graphics card (Windows), and not the hdmi input.
