Hello,

My problem is as follows:

When I tried to restart my LENOVO PC running WIN10 (because the command to open FIREFOX remained inactive), the PC powered on, but I have a black screen and I don't know if WIN10 has started or not.

I tried to reset the display by pressing the Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B simultaneously.... to no effect....

I also attempted several times Fn+F8 and F8 alone when restarting to try to boot in safe mode... still without success...

Is there another possible process to restore the situation????

Thank you in advance,

    Hello,

By forcefully shutting it down several times in a row, do you reach the Recovery Options?

To go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore

    Choose a different restore point...

As far back as possible if it doesn't affect your installed programs too much.

No, I can't access any features... black screen even when the PC is powered on. I even feel like part of the keyboard is inactive (but I can't verify it) because the light for the num lock key is on but not the one for caps lock.

In summary, no response from the PC...

Unplug it, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

If that's not enough, remove and reseat the RAM, being careful when handling it as it is very sensitive to static electricity. Therefore, during dry winter months, preferably not in a carpeted area, and touch something to discharge yourself as much as possible. There are wrist straps that connect to ground, but it's not absolutely necessary if you can use something else like the metal chassis of the device or another nearby unplugged device (Again, press and hold for another 30 seconds).

When you say unplug, is it just the power cord or do I also need to remove the battery?

As for disassembling the RAM, I don't feel knowledgeable enough for that!!!

Anyway, I'll try to unplug and keep you updated...

In any case, I wish you an excellent New Year's Eve....

It might be best to unplug the battery as well if it's easily done.

        Great problem solved!!!!

The PC eventually restarted in "repair" mode after forcing it to turn off and on several times (as also explained by MPMP10) and I just had to click a "Restart" button to return to normal. And after running my antivirus scans....EVERYTHING IS FINE!!!

A very big thank you for your help and have an excellent year 2026 again

    Hello,

If you are still on the Logo screen or the black screen, press the power button twice in quick succession. This will allow your computer to start normally.

Just in case, with a bit of luck!

not sure if WIN10 has started or not

If it is finally on the desktop, but unable to display correctly due to a corrupted graphics driver or otherwise!

    Try this.

Ctrl + Alt + Del on your keyboard, and then see by trying "Sign out" for example, or explore different options, or see by restarting through the button provided for that purpose located at the bottom right to check if it restarts correctly or not!

I have tried pressing the power button twice in quick succession while the PC is on with a black screen... no reaction.

Same for Ctrl + Alt + Del

      Another idea, perhaps?

For example, I'm wondering if I should create a bootable USB drive, but I'm not sure if that's suitable for the situation.

If you cannot access the BIOS or the Boot Menu, a bootable USB will be useless.

Happy New Year to you, MPMP10 as well.

By forcefully turning it off several times in a row, do you reach the Recovery Options?

See here for more details on how to do it, as suggested by fabul (whom I greet in passing…).
