Network card locked at 100Mbps

Hello,

I recently changed my motherboard to an Asus ROG B550 A-Gaming, which can support a speed of 2.5Gbps. So, I naturally adjusted the network card settings to set "Speed & Duplex" to 2.5Gbps, but in the properties, it remains stuck at 100Mbps. The same goes for SpeedTest. I am connected via a 600Mbps powerline adapter and a Cat 7 cable. I have a Freebox Delta 10Gbps.

Does anyone have a solution because I really don't see what I could do.

Motherboard: Asus ROG B550 A-Gaming
Network card: Intel(R) Ethernet Controller (3) I225-V (Driver up to date)
Cable: Cat 7 Ethernet Cable 3m, Snowkids High-Speed Network 10Gbit/s
Powerline Adapter: TP-Link AV600 Wi-Fi N | TL-WPA4225 KIT

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The powerline adapters come with Fast Ethernet ports, which means 100Mb/s https://www.tp-link.com/fr/home-networking/powerline/tl-wpa4225-kit/

We need powerline adapters with Gigabit ports, but the actual speed between the two powerline adapters will not reach Gigabit. A 2.5Gb/s port is only relevant in a wired Ethernet installation.

So I won't reach more than 100Mbps despite the indicated 600Mbps?

And it doesn't answer why my motherboard is stuck at 100Mbps in the properties, it should still change...

Thank you

600 is the exchange between the 2 powerline adapters. And we never actually reach that in reality.

Connected to the powerline adapter port which is 100Mb/s, the network card adjusts to the same speed.

600 Mbit/s ...Exchanges in virtual peaks, they don't even believe it themselves that they put fast ethernet ports limited to 100 Mbit/s

in fact, the 600 is an addition of the modulation capacities of the generated carriers, which is hardly additive except by marketers on paper.

Hello,

something is wrong with your story:

if you force your card to 2.5 Gbit/s or even 1, your card will not connect to a port forced to 100 Mbit/s or which only negotiates 10 and 100.

The only way for it to connect is to set it to auto (negotiation) so that lower speeds are allowed.

And there we go, here we are ....

But goodness, how annoying the line spacing is !!

Hello, I have a similar problem; I'm stuck at 100 Mbps while I set the duplex to 2.5 Gbps. I have 800 Mbps on my connection. Aside from that, I had my 800 Mbps on the first day I built my PC, but the next day it didn’t work anymore. Any logical explanation for that??

Hello,

thank you for asking your question in a new thread, as it probably doesn't have much to do with the topic here; you will need to register on the site for that.

In the meantime, try another cable.
