Hello,

No more email reception since a message about a full inbox. I cleaned everything up (it was indeed full!) but even with an empty inbox...still impossible to receive emails!!! Do they hold a grudge against me or what?

Hello,

Inbox full: OK but where: on your Mac? with your email provider?

You say you cleaned everything: so you put everything in the trash, which is a very good start. But did you empty the trash?

It may just be a matter of the time it takes for the modification to be processed (if you have emptied the trash, as _Ritchi_ reminded above). If more than 24 hours have passed, try to contact the host (Microsoft, in this case?)

Hello at your place!

First of all, thank you to the two "respondents" Aliboron and Ritchi.

So chronologically, I waited more than 24 hours after cleaning without seeing the problem evolve... then in desperation, I switched to the higher plan and there... MIRACLE! I immediately received an email (the first in 3 days!) from the giant whose name starts with "very small..."

And right after that, my inbox "came back to life" and the emails were back.

I deduce that from now on I should be more demanding regarding the frequency of my inbox cleanings...

As for the source of the saturation of inboxes that were all cleaned (starting with the trash), the mystery remains unsolved... but by following closely, I do not rule out the possibility of understanding one day.

Thank you again,

Alanares

Hello

Which plan are you talking about: mobile plan or internet plan?

And when you mention the giant whose name starts with "very small...", I can't figure out who you're referring to.
Maybe it's the time change that's slowed my brain down?

Hello Ritchi

A small clarification: at 80 years old, my modest self cannot claim to be a digital genius geek!

So I’m struggling to survive digitally... hence my gratitude to the members of the Forum whose help is invaluable. A little example of the ergonomic issues in the digital world: wanting to reply to your message, I click on the proposed link... and the response is roughly “LINK IMPOSSIBLE.” But even better: further down, we can read approximately “Automatic thing DO NOT REPLY to THIS MESSAGE”!!!

Well, what I just mentioned is a summary of the ordeal I went through to restore my inbox: surely a pro would have solved everything in 5 minutes, but, by analogy, one does not need to be an automotive engineering expert to drive their car and refuel when necessary...

Finally, to be honest, I BELIEVE (if I said I KNOW I would be quite presumptuous!), I therefore believe that this issue is not limited to the digital world: in an aging population, the examples are numerous. To cite just one: the packaging designers of certain products (e.g., canned goods) have never checked if their Grandmother could easily unpack it!!!

To return to your first question, you understand that I don’t quite know which plan it is... I believe it’s about internet since the symptoms were identical on smartphone and computer;

For your second question, let’s see... to float towards the very large we climb mega, giga, tera, peta, etc.

And so, to float towards the very small, we descend: centi, milli, etc.

HIHIHI!!! But no, your brain is not the issue: it’s mine that’s starting to ramble on!

And once again, THANK YOU for the help provided: CCM is a lifesaver for drowned people like me... and I dream of being the elder in about forty years!!!

Hello

"And so to sail towards the very small we go down: centi, milli, etc":
So micro ... soft
OK but it's just an application provider like Outlook that allows you to manage your emails.
Hence my questions again:
- what is your internet service provider for your Mac?
- what is your email address provider?
Normally it's free so I still don't understand why you had to switch to a higher plan.

Minidou is also a provider of email accounts: Hotmail, outlook.com, for the general public. These are precisely the two names given by Alanares in the title of this exchange. It is possible (hypothesis) that these accounts are configured in IMAP and that the accumulation of messages has reached a storage limit on Microsoft's servers. In which case, upgrading to a higher plan (likely paid) may have resolved the situation.

Finally, this is what I conjecture, from my great age (even though I haven't yet reached 80). ;-)

Hello to you, Masters Aliboron & Ritchi!

Thank you for helping me understand (and I think I'm starting to get there) even though I still don't translate everything in my old head (for example, what is IMAP?...) Well, the main thing is to make progress!

I made a chronological recap of my problem and how the solution appeared... but I would prefer to send it to you personally (outside of CCM) because I don't know if we can do it publicly at this stage. So how can I discreetly send it to both of you?

Thanks

The principle of forums is that exchanges are public (be careful never to include confidential information). If the exchanges are private... there are no more forums.

If you have a very specific need, it is possible to send a personal message through the site (by clicking on the correspondent's icon). When you receive one, I believe there is a small envelope in the top bar, and you also receive an email.

As for IMAP, it is a protocol for exchanging messages over the internet, essentially one of the ways to set up your account in your email software (Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook,...). For more details, see this page.

Hello and... oops!

Thank you for redirecting me to the detailed page (which I didn't understand at all, but that's normal!!!)

To follow up on my previous message, it involves attaching a timeline of events on a whole page that will not interest many people: it's mainly the diagnosis that knowledgeable individuals like Ritchi and you could provide that would be of interest.

That's why sending this attachment would be more appropriate in direct correspondence.

Best regards,

Alanares
