Hello,
I accidentally deleted one of my mailboxes in Mail, and all the messages it contained have been removed. I tried to recover them using Time Machine, following the advice I found here: open Mail, enter Time Machine, then try to open the Mail application: impossible, a window opens saying '“Mail” cannot be modified or deleted as Mac OS X requires it.'
I also tried to go (still in Time Machine) to user > username > library > mail, but it’s impossible because after "username" there is no 'library' folder. To access the library folder, I go to Mac HD > library, but then there is no 'mail' folder in the library...
Does anyone have a solution to propose? Thank you very much in advance!
Configuration: Mac OS X Lion (10.7) / Firefox 16.0

Hello,
You position yourself in Mail, then from there you click on Enter Time Machine: you will find yourself directly in your Mail backup and a message in the lower part of the window will indicate that you can click on Restore to restore the entire inbox.
Of course, before restoring, move through Time Machine to a date when your deleted inbox is present.

Be patient: I have a 10-hour time difference ...

Sorry for the double send, I created an account after the first email, it was resent once the account was created :(
I followed your response because I have the same problem, except that when I open Mail, a Welcome window opens telling me to click Continue to import messages. Once this operation starts, it does not complete. I even let it run in vain for 48 hours. This happened after a restoration from Time Machine. As long as the file import is not completed, it is impossible to use the mail features.
Do you know the name and location of the mail files?
I've been going in circles for 3 weeks.
I hope you can provide me with effective help: Thank you.
Following a Time Machine restore: what exactly? A full restore or a Mail restore?
