My mouse keeps disconnecting.

Good evening everyone

I am using an iMac with OS Catalina version 10.15.7 and have a wireless Apple mouse.

This mouse disconnects very often, I have charged the battery to 100%, Bluetooth is activated, and it still doesn't work.

    On the keyboard, can you change the batteries or is it a cable to recharge the battery?

    You indicate a wireless keyboard and then yes it is a wired keyboard

    I'm a bit lost :(

    You have a Mac with an Intel processor.

    Resetting the NVRAM

    Option KeyplusCommand KeyplusP KeyplusR Key

    1. Turn off your Mac.
    2. Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold these four keys: Option, Command, P, R.
    3. Release these keys after about 20 seconds. During this interval, your Mac will appear to restart. For example, you may hear the startup sound multiple times or see the Apple logo appear more than once.
    4. Once your Mac has completed startup, you may need to adjust any system settings that were reset.

      after trying all the proposed solutions in vain, I followed the advice of a YouTuber, I unplugged my Mac for 10 minutes and miracle, everything is working perfectly again

    Hello,

    I would say either the mouse is malfunctioning or the Bluetooth card in your machine, but since I don't know which iMac we're talking about... the first one being from '98...

    Are there any other Bluetooth devices connected to your iMac? Like the keyboard? Or wireless earbuds?

    It would be good to see if another device disconnects at the same time as the mouse or not.

    Hello and thank you for responding.

    It's an IMAC OS Catalina 21.5 inches from late 2013.

    I cleaned my mouse and it has been working for some time now.

    Yes, I have my keyboard connected via Bluetooth, so I will keep an eye on it and let you know.

    No worries, if the keyboard disconnects when the mouse disconnects, it will be the Mac; if the keyboard stays connected, it will be the mouse.

    When you say it disconnects, is there a message on your iMac screen saying

    connection interrupted with the mouse logo?

    Absolutely, when the mouse disconnects, it is clearly notified on the screen with the message "connection interrupted" along with the mouse logo.

    Tonight it works, so I will wait and thank you once again.

    So the problems are starting again and my mouse keeps disconnecting

    it must be coming from the MAC because the keyboard is disconnecting too, I'm going to system preferences

    bluetooth mouse and keyboard are connected

    do you think I have any other maneuver I can try

    - Do you have a wired keyboard to perform a PRAM reset?

    - Can you give me the exact model of the keyboard and the mouse?
    - The only workaround, which is not 100% guaranteed, is to use an external Bluetooth adapter.

    Hello

    I performed the maneuver and I clearly heard while holding the 4 startup sound keys

    but the result is the same and worse in the end

    And when the screen opens, the mouse is completely frozen

    I think my Mac is nearing the end of its life

    Indeed, the wifi/Bluetooth card seems to be at the end of its life.

    You can, of course, get a wired mouse to keep costs down.

    Expect to pay around €199 for the standard replacement of the AirPort/Bluetooth card.

    I followed your advice and bought a wired mouse. (waiting to install it)

    It's very strange, for the past three days my computer has been working fine without me having done anything special

    except for the startup functions?

    With the wired mouse it's very good but sometimes it disconnects the wireless keyboard

      No problem, you’re not bothering me.

      So the issue seems to be related to the device since the keyboard keeps disconnecting
      (unless it's environmental, but if so, you can indeed use a wired keyboard that will allow you to operate without interruption and safely.
